Parade of Homes Party: House Tour & Master Bedroom Reveal!

This week you all are in for a real treat!  Poppies at Play is hosting a Parade of Homes Party, and I get to be one of four homes kicking off the event today. So…welcome everyone to my humble abode!

We’ll start our tour by enjoying some iced tea on the front porch.  If you’re hungry, I’ll treat you to an Italian pastry across the street at our local bakery.  Their chocolate cannolis are to die for!

Well, come on inside and take a look around.  This is the dining room.  I have one more chair to recover before this redo is complete.  Our home has exposed brick throughout. And…I know, I know. You love them! We do too.  It’s amazing how much character the brick adds to our space.

Here is the main level.  It is currently a work in progress!  We recently added board and batten and I have a lot of redecorating to do on this level.

This is my kitchen that is another work-in-progress on.  Stay tuned to see how I finish it up in here!  This kitchen has been my nemesis for months now.  It’s time to take some advice from Nike and “just do it”.

Let’s walk out that back door and take a look at the “yard”.  Yes, in the city this is pretty typical.  It’s very small but cute and cozy out here.  My boys love to watch the birds at the feeder and adore finding rolly pollies under the pots!

Let’s go back inside and head upstairs to the second level.

Here is the boys’ bedroom with the beadboard wallpaper and rain gutter bookshelves.  I must warn anyone planning to do something similar that if your kiddos like books it WILL interfere with bedtime.  Such easy access to all that biblio-goodness is too much of a temptation for any book lover :) .

Next we’ll tour the boys’ bathroom/guest bath.  It’s a jack and jill style bath which allows easy access for both boys’ and guests.  (And yes, as you might have noticed, we have a major thing for dinosaurs around here!  Trying to decorate in a “classy dinosaur theme” is no easy task!  I did my best to pull it off.

Here is the laundry closet.  If you are “blessed” to have an ugly, small space with one of those builder-grade-racks-from-the-devil, this is just proof that it can look cute on a shoe string.

Here is the guest room-library-office.  The Ikea bed pulls out to the size of a king.  Guests tell me it is quite comfortable if you’d like to come and stay!  I haven’t done much to this room since we moved in three years ago.  It’s ready for a change.

I seriously cannot believe I’m sharing this horrible picture with you but it will make you appreciate the “after” all the more.  Below is a picture of the craft room (in progress).

Okay, let’s head upstairs to the third level and take a look at the master suite.  This is by far my favorite part of the house.  We’ll start with the master bath.

I make good use of my jacuzzi tub and love my bowl vanities.

And drum roll please….ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta,ta, ta…..

Finally!  The master bedroom is finished!  Be prepared to scroll a lot here because I went a little picture crazy.  This is the first time I am showing off the recently redone master bedroom.

I am in LOVE with how it turned out.
My linens make me smile.

Sigh.  Isn’t it beautiful?

Now those of you who regularly visit me know where I put those gorgeous side doors!

My dollar-store-pillow-case-ruffle pillow.

I pulled this bedroom together on a very tight budget and I love it.

Now, let’s head out that door, walk down the hall and jump out onto the roof deck, shall we?  This is where I retreat to during the kids’ book naptime, and where I sit with my laptop and comment on your blogs.  Roof decks are necessary little oases when urban living!

And that completes our tour.  I am thrilled you took the time to stop by and hope that you will come again!

I love, love, love your home. What city are you in??????? (is that too much info to ask??). My favorite is the kids guttering and all of the brick!!!!! Your home is classy, but so warm.

Do you need me to come help you get rid of that red in the kitchen? Wink, wink? Didn't we already discuss colors?????? Your cabinets will look so much better if you don't have red against them. Trust me on this!!!!!!!

Okay, I am almost morally against "theme" decorating but you pulled it off. Your nautical/seaside bedroom looks wonderful and I love that you did the brown and gold tones instead of the traditional blue. It makes it a very visually interesting grouping and feels very warm. Kudos, I am not remotely clever enough to think outside the box like that.

    Very beautiful. Unique and wonderful.

I love all the colors and textures for a change!!!! White is nice, but I'm a color girl.

We live in a mountain home in Oregon and white just wouldn't feel right!

Thanks for opening up your home and sharing!

Sweetie I just found you and I love your home! It is so warm and cozy!!! I love the fact that you let your exposed brick out in the open and used it. I grew up in a home with the whole basement was like that and we did the same thing. BRAVO!!!! Do Halloween too!

I have been to your blog numerous times before, but I have never taken the home tour. It is to die for. I absolutely love every square inch of it. I have never seen a child's room so neat. Girl, I would have to hire a bulldozer to come in before I could show a child's room in this house. Love all of the charm and character that your home has. It looks like something that you would see on tv.
