I’ve had this strange attraction to vintage spools for awhile now. If you’ve been with me since last year, then you might remember this project which turned into this one. Well now that attraction has supersized and I’m currently working on making my own monster, vintage spools. Here are some of the reasons why I love them….
Pottery Barn
Ballards
Anthropologie
Stay tuned and I’ll show you what I’ve made!

You are a magician! I love the spools! So very clever, I never would have thought of making my own spools.

It will be fun to see what your creative mind has come up with! 🙂 I use vintage spools to hold different ribbon. They do have a lot of charm.

I laughed when you said "monster vintage spool" because it reminded me of a picture of me in my first "cradle." My dad and grandfather made it out of a gigantic spool that was originally used for stuff like cables and telephone wires.
Can't wait to see what you make!

Hey, hey … I love spools, too! In fact, I just got some from Pottery Barn to put on my message board. Fun! I, too, look forward to seeing what you create! Thanks for stopping by my Fall kitchen and for the nice note! No, I didn't realize you used Ivoire in your "twin!" Isn't it a great color … I love all the colors on that strip (Restrained Gold is in our great room, foyer and hallways). I'm sure your "new" color will look gorgeous … can't wait to see the finished space. Take care, Becca

I'm looking forward to seeing your creation. My mom gave me some large spools that we both use as candle holders. It's fun to repurpose old things.

Those are cute! I never ever saw those giant ones here, but I am sure they are here…somewhere lol. Even the small wooden ones are nowhere to be found….yet 😉 Maybe someday haha. Can;t wait to see what you make with them.

Love the idea of spools as hooks. I have some antique ones knocking about somewhere. A great way of using them.
Oh, and a belated thanks for posting those beautiful vintage labels the other day – printed out and waiting for blackberry jelly to be made 😉

those are all so cool! I can't wait to see the ones you've been making. We had a giant spool as a kitchen table that my mom painted and stenciled when I was growing up.
