Tutorials & Tips Tuesday Link Party {21}

My tip for you today is to use your mind’s eye when you are looking at 2nd hand objects. For example, I present to you Exhibit A: An ugly basket for $4.

But if you can see past Exhibit A’s weird onion thingies and deteriorating burlap…

…and if you can imagine covering up the wire with some simple twine…

…Then you can see a cute basket to hang in your kitchen.

…And fill that empty space above your door…

Now let’s see your Tips and Tutes from this week! Please leave a text link back to Home Stories A to Z at the end of your post.

    Totally my first time adding a link, and I didn’t mean to give it my name as the title. Could you delete it so I can redo it? #16…thanks!

    love the basket. The post I’m sharing this week is along the same lines- I bought a cheap (ugly) sofa and made a slipcover & pillows for it. Thank you so much for hosting! Happy Monday!

    This is such good advice, its taken me a while to learn, kinda goes against what we’ve been told that shiny and new are better!

    Beth – You thought of a really clever way to repurpose that basket. It will be cute this fall in the same place with gourds replacing the starfish.

    Thanks for hosting the party!

    Love the basket! It looks fabulous with the starfish in it. AND, I noticed something in your picture.. that I haven’t noticed before. The fabric on your drumshade hanging from the ceiling is the EXACT fabric I have been eyeing on fabric.com for months!!! I love it! What do you think of it? Does the blue pop or is it a bit pale? I want to use it to make pillows and/or curtains for my living room and I’d love your thoughts!! :)

    I love that cute basket! I am having a hard time finding blinds that I like similar to the one on your door. Any suggestions where to purchase some?
