January is the time to clean, and organize, and straighten, and spruce. To get you in the mood to tackle your cluttered pantry, here are fourteen kitchen pantry makeovers! All of these pantries are practical, obtainable, and functional. Most importantly, they are all done by bloggers for real kitchens. If these pantries work in other homes, one of them is bound to work for you!
I would be remiss if I did not begin our pantry tour with The House of Smiths pantry makeover. As I’ve said in previous posts, it is the pantry makeover that launched a thousand pantry makeovers! Shelley’s pantry remains my favorite and actually inspired my own pantry makeover. If you haven’t read her post yet, you should. Shelley gives great tips on pantry organization and practical ways to achieve a beautiful and organized food storage area.
Look familiar? PB&J Stories definitely took notes from The House of Smiths and created this gorgeous pantry. If your pantry needs to do double duty and store non-food items, take a tip from PB&J and designate a separate shelf with clearly labeled storage containers.
Faith, Trust, and a little Pixie Dust created this beauty after also being inspired by Shelley. I love her use of chalkboard labeled bottles for various flavored vinegars.
Polka dots, blue, and pennant banners, oh my! All that is missing is her signature chevron. Any guesses whose gorgeous pantry this is? If you guessed Jen from Tatertots & Jello, then you are correct! Jen’s personality shines through in all of her home decor and it always screams FUN! I love how it looks like a party is going on inside her pantry. Take a tip from Jen and don’t be scared to make every part of your home your own!
Small on space? I Heart Organizing shows how to place a rack over your door to maximize space and minimize clutter.
Eleven Magnolia Lane used chalkboard paint, polka dot scrapbook paper, and ribbon to help this organized pantry go from blah to ooh-la-la. Making your space functional and cute does not have to cost a lot of money!
Do you see the gorgeous “wallpaper” in Amber Lane Living’s pantry? The top is scrapbook paper and the floral is actually mod-podged fabric on contact paper! Brilliant! If she ever tires of the background, she can just peel and remove the contact paper.
Decor Chick Emily and her dad designed this ingenious shelf carousel which takes full advantage of corner pantries. She gives a full tutorial on how to replicate their brilliance.
Not in the mood to replace shelving or decorate the pantry walls? You don’t have to. Burlap and Lace shows us how to makeover a pantry just by using cute baskets, chalkboard labels, and chic containers!
I like it, I love it added a few decorative elements to the top shelf of her pantry which makes it stand out. Using storage containers you have on hand to hide pantry necessities is a fantastic way to achieve pretty, organized, and thrifty!
Classy Clutter created this lovely pantry for a client. I love the adorable “gum ball” food storage containers and the decorative knobs displaying all the pretty aprons.
If you are planning to build a pantry this year, you should definitely read In My Own Style’s detailed post on pantry planning. Diane turned a coat closet into a pantry and shows us exactly how she did it!
Sand and Sisal used plastic containers from Costco and chalkboard labels to give her pantry the organization it needed. Kim happens to be my sister and a year later her pantry still looks like this! I asked her what she did with any extra food that didn’t fit in the storage containers. She said that she typically only buys the amount that she needs (and that will fit) and any extra is stored in the sisal baskets.
And I’ll conclude with my pantry makeover. I did this makeover spending next to nothing and it has worked splendidly for our family. However, I’m actually getting ready to makeover my makeover! The pantry is still functional but keeping the red interior was a mistake that I hope to remedy.

wow – puts my kitchen to shame :/ I really like the blackboard painted jars by Faith, Trust & Pixie Dust. Maybe 2012 will be the year for me to tackle my 1980′s disaster room!
We don’t have a pantry & it’s sooo annoying. I finally bought a giant open wire shelving unit that we keep in our laundry room (which is off the kitchen) to put things on. It’s helped a lot, but it’ll never look as pretty as those.
I don’t have a pantry per se- we use the sauna in our master bath to store our American goods or the balcony off the kitchen when the weather is cold (like now!).
My makeover- we’ll use everything up, pack up, and leave the country this summer!
Hi Beth! Wow those pantries are inspiring. Goes to show we can make anything look appealing to the eye if we work on it! I have a pantry that is deep with deep, roll out shelving in it. I’d love to see how people organize those if they have one like it. I think those are even more difficult to organize than pantries with shallow shelving.
Where do you get the baskets and jars (mason jars with locks) ?
I think the baskets came from Walmart and I’m guessing the jars did too. Or they might have come from a store called the Christmas Tree Shop.

Nope, no pantry makeover in 2011. I re-did mine in 2010, and I’m proud to say that it has stayed organized! (That’s a real coup for me, seeing as I’m organizationally challenged.)
We took the boys to the Biltmore during their Christmas break. Every time I visit there, I come home inspired to have a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful pantry. Of course, to have pantries like the Biltmore’s, I’d need to tear out my kitchen and use the space just for pantries. I guess there’s no point in food storage if you don’t have a kitchen. But gosh, it’s tempting!
I always love seeing what others do to get spaces in order. Great inspiration and some bloggers I was not familiar with! Thank you for sharing. I have my eye on some labels to order now too.
I’m suffering from pantry envy. I think I have too much stuff and every time I organize it, it just gets cluttered again.

mine just couldn’t ever look that good, have deep shelves that are not very wide, you have to look behind everything to see what’s in there. i also wonder in all of these where are the random things like bbq chips and tons of canned food?!

Hi Sharon, I had a similar pantry in our last home. What we did was install a wire can rack on the right wall. On the left, we built shelves and I used labeled baskets on the bottom two shelves. It was an awkward space to work with but we made it work!
