DIY Lamp Makeover
Let’s update a lamp with this DIY lamp makeover tutorial using green spray paint and cabinet knobs!
Today’s post is written by a friend and guest! Kristen is an incredibly talented interior designer and blogger who has been frequently featured on my weekly Tutes & Tips Not to Miss round-ups! Today she is going to share with you a unique tutorial on how to incorporate cabinet knobs in your next lamp makeover. Take it away Kristen!

I am beyond thrilled to be sharing a little piece of what I do over at The Hunted Interior with all of you! My philosophy is to hunt your home, with an open mind, for pieces that can be transformed. With a little paint & hard work you would be surprised at what you can find lying around. Today I will be sharing a quick & inexpensive way to give a standard lamp the high end designer treatment using cabinet pulls… Yep, knobs!
How to Update an Old Lamp
I started this project with a basic lamp that has found it’s way into nearly every room of our house at one point or another. Currently, it is sporting a coat of gold spray paint. Perfectly fine… but my house is in need of some COLOR! So this baby was the perfect candidate.
First I wiped down the lamp with a soft cloth & some vinegar to prep the surface. The vinegar helps to create a clean surface before painting (anything.) I then taped off the socket & cord using plastic bags & painter’s tape.
Add some of what I like to call “Insta Color” via Rustoleum’s Ultra Cover in Meadow Green.
How to Add Cabinet Knobs to Base of Lamp
Once your paint is COMPLETELY dry, flip it upside down & prep for your cabinet knobs. For my lamp I had to remove a thin piece of felt in order to have a flat surface.
When looking for a cabinet knob, think of style, proportion & most importantly look at it from the side. Make sure it has a profile that you think would be appropriate for your lamp.
Space them evenly & hot glue them to your base.
This not only dresses up a simple lamp, but it is also a great solution if your lamp needs just a little more height. Your possibilities are only limited by your selection of hardware, so have fun getting creative!
Big thanks to Beth for allowing me to share this tutorial with all of you. If you are interested in learning more about me or seeing my other DIY Tutorials, come on over & join me on the hunt at The Hunted Interior.

I love creating new pieces out of your own old stuff. If you have been looking for that one lamp that will go perfect in that one room… just make it! And what did this project cost? I am guessing $10? Way to save some hard-earned cash too:)

What a great idea! Perfect for our bedside table lamps that aren’t quite high enough because of short nightstands(and a super high/tall bed)! I love the color she chose to paint it in too.
Heading over to her blog to get caught up on all I’ve been missing. Thanks for sharing her with us, Beth:)
