Window Treatment Makeover: $2000 Bali Blinds Giveaway

A few months ago, I freshened up our master bathroom with some blue paint, fluffy towels, and new accessories. I really love the way it all came together! However, I wasn’t sure how to decorate the one tall window in the room. It’s the only source of natural light in our bathroom, and I knew I didn’t want to cover it up with anything heavy. I also knew that it really needed a little somethin’ somethin’ to compliment the rest of the room. When I’m undecided about a decorating choice, I typically do nothing at all. And so my poor window has sat naked for last several months. Out of desperation for a privacy solution, I hurriedly tacked up a sad little curtain that I stole from the boys’ bathroom. Sorry boys! Thank goodness for Bali Blinds! They must have sensed the neediness of my situation and offered to let me review a custom wood blind and window cornice.

Window treatment before after

Are you familiar with Bali Blinds? They are the largest national retail brand of blinds, shades, shutters, drapery and more! You can find them being sold at the Home Depot, Lowe’s, JCPenney, Target, Costco, and Menards, just to name a few, as well as several online retailers.

Cornice over bathroom window

I went to the Bali site through Lowe’s and browsed the many window treatment options. I decided to go with the Northern Heights Wood Blind in Snowstorm with a cornice done in Bavaria Alps fabric. The ordering process went very smoothly, and I loved how easy it was to make my selections. The step-by-step directions for measuring the window led to a perfectly custom fit blind and cornice. When my wood blind arrived, I followed the directions which came in the packaging and was able to install the blind in a matter of minutes. You can see how great it looks below even without the cornice!

The thick wood slats are absolutely perfect for privacy when needed and light filtering when desired.

Want to know something else that I love about this blind? Do you see the little wood ball half way up the cord? That right there is pure genius my friends. All of the blinds/shades in my home have the wooden balls at the end of the cord. But you know what happens when you pull the cord the full length of your arm? The blind still has half a window’s length left to go. And so you have to grab the bare cord to finish the job. I love that by simply adding another wood ball half way up the cord, Bali has eliminated the struggle and discomfort of raising the blind. I know, it doesn’t take much to make me giddy, but I just love a company that pays attention to detail!

What can I say? Just like you, I have a passion for beautiful things. ;-)

To prove it, they are giving away up to $2000 in custom window treatments to one lucky Home Stories A to Z reader. What the what?! Yes. You read that right! Up to 2K in Bali products! You can do some serious window-treatment-makeover-magic with that generous budget.

  62. Peggy says

After many years of living in the same house with the same window treatments (blinds), we finally sold our home and will be building a new house and building our dream home in a lake side community. I found your blog while search for inspiration for decorating and have fallen in love with your bathroom! If I had to pick three they would be White 7035, Picket Fence S051 and Snowstorm S318 (even thou I live in the deep “hot” South! :-) In my old house I had wooden blinds, the cost to replace them as you know is quite high…so I had to live with my original choice for the past 12 years. I would choose a white blind so that I would have a neutral plate/background from my window treatments (drapery, cornice, etc)….. Thanks So Much for this opportunity!

  63. Kari Miller says

Hi Beth— your bathroom makeover looks stunning! Thank you so much for this amazing deal! It would make my year to win! Speaking of bathroom windows– ours has a make shift valance that’s been there for 9 years! Ugh! I would absolutely love to have Linen Natural # 0120 roman shades in the space. Privacy plus texture= perfect! I’d also love to have Terrace Pristine # 3470 in my daughters’ shared bedroom. The double hung windows peer out over the front of our home. Currently we just have sheers on them, but the crisp white would look beautiful— and the roman shades would grow with our girls. What I wouldn’t give to have Damask Tawny #3260 in our sunroom! The look would be so classy and elegant! I’d also adore to see any one of the natural wood window treatment options in there. Oh I’m crossing my fingers I’ll be chosen! Thanks again, Beth!

oooh so many pretty choices – I really need some roman shades in several rooms – my favorites Antigua Canopy 25002 for a beachy vibe in my kitchen/family room; Bavarian Alps 3183 for a more tailored look in the dining room and Kuna Billowy 3320 for the master – thanks for the opportunity :)

  75. Kathleen R., says

I need something in a white blind — Pickett Fence 1051, or Snowstorm 1318, or maybe Natural1036.

  76. says

Three Swatches that I love and adore are Kayo Indulge 1560 as it has that beautiful earthy color pallet that would match my beige walls and pop of coral sofa table in the family room. Which by the way, we have something like 15 gazillion windows that peer directly into our neighbors. I also love Bavaria Munich 3182 for our formal living room and dining room. The wall colors are a pale shade of blue and I think this would make the room pop. I also love Annabelle Medieval 3121for the peaceful neutral combination that would look lovely in our bedroom. To compliment each of these, I love the wooden blinds in Sandblast
Picket Fence SB051as it is a soft, dreamy creamy color. That would go well in most any room. Also, love the elegant simplicity of Northern Heights Ebony 1690 as I think it would offset a lighter material with a beautiful contrast. Also adore seeing Northern Heights Winter 1837 because just like Picket fence, it is a beautiful neutral that would dress up any window and let in lots of natural light. Especially for living due north, where the sun in limited much of the year. Thanks for sharing! There are some great ideas on the Bali website!

  77. Raina DelRio says

I love Brandy #5736 because it is dark wood, like all the wood in our home. I also like it because everyone in the neighborhood has the white blinds, so this would set us apart. I like White #5035 to be uniform with the rest of the neighborhood (I’m OCD like that) and Sandblast White #5951 because it has that weathered look.

  78. Vanessa says

I love the White 5035 for the 2 inch faux wood blinds and Ravish
Bisque 3420 and Linen Nickel 0125 for the roman shades. I love the subtle patterns and textures!

  80. Donna E says

This is a tough one, I have so many rooms that would love some help in the window treatment department.
    – First one that comes to mind is the EuroVue Shutters in Snow White/1922. They would be great for privacy and light in our bathrooms.
    – Second, the Standard Roman Natural Shades in Antigua Tiki/25004. These shades would be a great addition to new curtains in my living room.
    – Third, the perfect curtains for my new shades would be Kuna Billowy/3320.
These are the three Bali products I/my home would love!

  81. says
