Welcome! I am so excited to be participating this year in Jennifer Rizzo’s Virtual Holiday Housewalk Tour. Yesterday was the kick-off of the home tours and with 21 homes in all you won’t want to miss a day. If you are visiting from At the Picket Fence, thanks so much for clicking over and stopping by!
I was in such a mad rush to decorate the house in time for this party and there is so much more to show you of my Christmas home, so please consider this an early foretaste of more to come. We’ll start out on the front porch. Today was in the high 60’s, so I was able to get away with placing my poinsettias outside. They will have to come in once the temps drop back down, but for now I am loving how they look out here!
I live in a row home in the city and we have four levels to our home all of which are very narrow and skinny. Our home is a “twin” so it shares a wall with our adjoining neighbors and has windows on the front, back, and side of the home. As you walk through the entryway, this is the view that greets you.
To the right is the dining room all dressed up in her Christmas best. I used fresh greens absolutely everywhere this year so my new mantra is “embrace the pine needle”. I will be embracing and vacuuming those babies from now until August :).
Everyone always ooo’s and ahhh’s over the brick wall. When our home was renovated we had them pull away the plaster on one entire side of our home to expose the 100 year old brick. Almost every room in our home has one wall of exposed brick peeking through which adds a ton of charm and character.
The centerpiece on my dining room table is whimsical and fun. Sticks, dollar store snowflake ornaments, and wax paper “capiz shell” garland create a fun focal point for the table.
And next to the dining room stands our Christmas tree. I LOVE my tree this year and will be sharing some more pictures of the tree all a’glow at night at some other time. My 6 year old begged me to get these owl ornaments, and I’m so glad he did because they are adorable.
Fresh garland hangs on the bannister with white grosgrain bows. I wanted to keep the decorations clean and simple this year.
A fun old typewriter (that my kids marvel at) creates a lovely vignette. The ribbon is too old to carry any ink but the typewriter still works great. Asher is fascinated by the fact that there isn’t a number “1” on the keys. He’s so observant :).
My brown leather couches are hiding under their Pottery Barn slipcovers. I put the slipcovers back on yesterday to dress up the room for the holidays.
It kind of kills me to show you this next pic because I really want to do an entire post on my Christmas mantel. So just look quick because you’ll be seeing it again soon :).
All of my light fixtures look so pretty Christmasified.
And I will conclude with this picture of my Christmas kitchen sink. I know so many of you are dying to see the full kitchen reveal. I will do a post this week with some major kitchen paparazzi because it deserves it’s own post with befores and afters and the full treatment!
Thank you so much for taking the time to tour my Christmas home! I hope you’ll continue on the virtual tour and visit Kelly’s gorgeous home at Eclectically Vintage. And if you’d like to tour all the homes in the line-up, be sure to click on the button below to start at the beginning! Enjoy!
Jennifer says
Hey Beth,
Question – where did you get those adorable slip covers for your sofas? Please email me and let me know. I am looking for something JUST like that!
Thanks so much!
Jennifer
Beth says
Hi Jennifer,
The slipcovers were purchased years ago and are Pottery Barn. I actually sold them a few years ago along with the sofas. I’m not sure if they still make them or not but you might be able to find them on ebay. Good luck!
Beth
Alicia V says
Beautiful! Where did you get those adorable white fuzzy owls if you don’t mind me asking?
Beth says
I don’t mind at all! Some of them came from a random online shop a few years ago. So sorry, but can’t remember the name at all. I had just googled “fuzzy white owls” that year and found them. The others came from Kmart 2 yrs ago.
Beth says
I just googled them again and found one of the types I have at Sears: http://bit.ly/12zCCi6
Julie says
Last year I bought those same fluffy owl ornaments. I thought they were adorable too! I kept one for my tree and gave the rest as an add on to the gifts.
Carrie @ Busy Nothings says

Love it! Just lovely…..
val says
Every detail is completely stunning.
Lauren @ momhomeguide says
The oval coffee table in your living room sounds like it’d be a good fit — it would also help to soften the long, rectangular lines in the room! Good luck with your new table!
Lauren @ momhomeguide says
I love the brick wall in your home. Was that always there, or did you add that? Also — I liked taking a look at your living room. We have a long, narrow living room in our home like yours (that leads from the front door to the kitchen), and we still haven’t put any furniture there — I am not sure how to decorate it without messing up the traffic pattern!
Beth says
Thanks Lauren. When our house was “flipped” 5 years ago we had them chip off the plaster on the interior wall of the home to expose the brick. And yes, row homes are notorious for the long skinny space which makes decorating a real challenge. The traffic flows just fine on both sides of the coffee table. I’m actually going to get a smaller oval shaped coffee table (hopefully the one in my Ballard Designs post!) to replace our current one. I think that will provide a better flow through.
Jessica @ Dear Emmeline says
your home is gorgeous Beth! thanks for sharing! the muted/neutral color scheme looks great with your decor.
Jennifer @ Town and Country Living says

Stephanie says
First of all, your home looks absolutely beautiful all decked out for Christmas! I love everything!!! But the one thing that jumped right out and got my attention most is completely crazy! Where in the world did you get the adorable white tea pot tea maker? I HAVE to have one!!! It is so precious. Thanks a bunch. Merry Christmas!
Beth says
Lol!!! That is a “Mrs. Tea”. Mr. Coffee’s wife. Or perhaps ex-wife or estranged wife because they stopped making her just a few years after she was created. My husband had to scour ebay for me to purchase one and that was at least 7 years ago. We use it all winter long and it makes a full pot of tea off of one teabag without it being too weak. LOVE my Mrs. Tea!
Beth@Unskinny Boppy says
That brick wall. I’m in love with it. Can i steal it? Your decorations are beautiful, Beth!
Tori says

Beth says
Thanks Tori! I made the capiz shell garland two years ago. You can find a tutorial for it in my project gallery. This is the 3rd Christmas I’ve used it and I still love it!

Thanks so much Susan! The fuzzy owl ornaments came from a random store online. The feathery owl ornaments came from Kmart. The wings were purchased from Marshall’s and then painted. I did a tutorial on them a few posts back if you’re interested. Thanks again for visiting and sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter’s grandparents.

It IS different isn’t it? It initially took some getting used to, but I now love the fun character and charm row homes offer. Although, if you offered me a Victorian farm house I would gladly take it and leave the city ;P!
