I love my house. It’s not without it’s flaws, of course, and it’s not exactly my “dream home” but for what we paid for it I think it is incredible! The shell of my house is 100 yrs old but the interior is completely new. I was able to design the floor plan and pick out every detail down to my kitchen knobs. It was tremendous fun, and if given the chance I’d do it all over again. And guess what? I have been offered the opportunity to do just that, but this time I get PAID to renovate!
An old acquaintance from college (that since has become a friend) is in the home “flipping” business. He buys up abandoned, scary houses and creates dream homes from them. It’s really quite magical to watch! I have helped him pick paint colors for a few other of his properties on our block and the public gave rave reviews. So, I am thrilled to be co-project manager for the abandoned home that is our house’s “twin”—the house is literally attached to our home. (Thrilled that the dump will be fixed up and I won’t have to lie awake worrying about deranged criminals breaking into my home, and thrilled that I get paid to do something I love!) But, I need your help. Exterior colors are the first order of business. I need to pick colors that compliment the twin on the left. Please vote for your favorite in the comments section. (If for some reason you are reading this blog and I don’t know you, go ahead and cast your vote as well. 🙂
*Since I know someone is bound to ask, I created these photos using Benjamin Moore’s Personal Color Viewer program. You can order it here.

The van deusen blue gives character to the house and helps it stand out without being loud. Just my 2 cents. I am curious as to what color you actually went with in the end and in particular I am curious as to whether you managed to bring a cohesive look to the structure. We saw the before, care to post an after?

Beth – Pretty risky asking a bunch of us to vote! But we all feel honored!! What to you think?? We favor #1 which is least contrast with your half of the twin. HOWEVER, we did not see anything that resembled any green or moss. Therefore kinda had to leave off voting on those that were supposed to look green.
Let us know what you choose! billandwendyhunter

Shouldn’t the voters get a cut? 🙂

I think fog or gray, mainly b/c the roofline color is more complimentary, not as contrasting. would it just be weird to make them match? just curious…..I mean how often do you get to chose your neighbor’s house color 😉

Wow, Beth… what fun! Love your house by the way. 🙂 Glad to finally see a picture. I’d say I think it would look fantastic like yours…consistent and streamlined – love what you chose for yours by the way. But if you want to do something different… I’m thinking the Adams Gold and a moss… complements yours well. Have fun and can’t wait to see results. 🙂

Hi Beth,
I’m a friend of Christianne 🙂 I have enjoyed your journeys as a young mom as you share them on your blog 🙂
I am only commenting since you said strangers are allowed:) yet it still feels rather strange to be giving my opinion to someone who barely knows me 🙂 I hope it is helpful nonetheless. 🙂 I would vote for the Adams gold and something moss. I agree with Chris, though, too, and was, at first, the most attracted to the original color 🙂 Good luck to you! I totally agree that it is cool to get paid to do something you like! 🙂

Hmmm. . . now I’m leaning towards the fog or the grey. To be honest, I like the current color – just of course not horrid and peeling.
