I am very slowly working on getting my new craft room into shape and needed something on the blank expanse of wall behind my desk. I thought it would be fun to have an inspirational pinboard of sorts, so I set off in search of a cheap corkboard. At Ollies (a discount chain), I found four of these incredibly flimsy boards for $2 each.
I popped the boards out of their frames and gave the frames a coat of blue paint.
I used my free sample of Glidden paint for this project. Yay for free paint samples!
The paint looked a bit boring on it’s own, so I added some black Rub ‘n Buff to give it a more distressed look.
I hadn’t planned on covering the boards with fabric, but I remembered that I had this gorgeous remnant sitting in the closet! I purchased a yard of this Dwell Studio fabric awhile ago from fabric.com with the intention of using it for my living room pillows. However, the color isn’t quite right for the living room but works perfectly in my craft room! Using my trusty glue gun, I attached the fabric edges to the back of each corkboard.
And here is how they turned out! I feel inspired just looking at the fabric. I don’t even need to tack anything up there for awhile if I don’t want to!
And here are some more gratuitous photos for you because I just cannot help myself….
Love! And the best part is that I still have enough fabric leftover for a pillow which I will be making soon. Stay tuned!
