This post is really just more of a quick tip for you rather than what I think constitutes a “post”. But it’s a helpful one so I’m going with it! My little sis let me know that if you have an Ikea Expedit Bookcase Target’s Itso line will work perfectly with it! The bins are currently on sale for $7.99 and hold a world of sins inside.
She has two sweet girls and her playroom bins are organized by color as pictured below.
I have two semi-sweet boys that refuse to stay organized no matter what method I employ, so the rule is “put all your toys away so that I can’t see them”. So far, this is working well for all of us! I also love that the bins can be pulled out like little drawers. (I previously had smaller baskets here that the boys would just pull out and dump. We’ve had less dumping incidents since the implementation of the Itsos. Where do they come up with these names???)
Happy back to school organizing!
Update: Come see what the itso bins look like now and learn a tip on how you can easily paint them! Click here.

You’re welcome!

I was wondering…the baskets look a little tight. Is it hard to pull them out or put them back in? Thanks to anyone who can answer!

Hi! Someone linked me to this post, when I was asking about storage solutions on my blog! I really love what you have done – and especially like your principle of “just put it away so I can’t see it!” – I am a little more fussy than that, and get all antsy when the “right” toys are not in the “right” boxes! lol If you have any more great school supply storage ideas, drop by my blog and share them, please!

Just wanted to thank you for your post/tip. I just got the Expedit bookcase and have looked everywhere for bins that would fit. The ones at Ikea just weren’t working for me. And the better quality ones were way too much anyway! These bins are SO perfect! Thank you!!

Hi Beth!
Further proof of your psychic abilities! My extra bedroom is a disaster thanks to my granddaughter's toys being scattered everywhere and no room to hide them away. This is just what I had in mind. Thanks!

Hey!!!! I need these! I have fabric cubes in my storage shelves, but they get dumped all the time. I would love something that can function as a "drawer", like you mentioned.

We registered for the itsos for our wedding once we discovered that they fit perfectly! If they're on sale, I need to for sure go buy some more! Thanks for the tip!

I love cubbies and bins. They hide a multitude of sins. We use them in Princess Z's room and they make all the difference in the world! Your are pretty! Gotta love pretty AND functional. 🙂

Target is definetly more resonable price wise.

I like the size of those bins! We have some small canvas-colored bins from WM, but they just don't hold as much. I like how the Itsos fill the space better. Your sister's playroom is adorable! We have the same yellow dollhouse–that thing has provided hours of fun. Best money I ever spent!

I *adore* the sailboat wall hangings. Would you be willing to share where you found them? Thanks!

Those really look great in there! I love the way your sister color co-ordinated them! My boys were the same with their stuff. I did the same as you!

Great tip! I was just looking at the Itso stuff yesterday at Tarjay. Sometimes I don't feel like going all the way to Ikea for a basket so this will really help me out!

Very cute, my son has this bookcase in birch. I have been looking for bins to help hide all of his items.

I just made my girlfriend by this shelf. I think it's just perfect. Decorative, simple, and it hides crap! I love the sailboat art above, too!
