Not long ago, I gave you a tour of my boys’ bathroom. Chris from Just a Girl told me to go clean another room so you all could see it. Yes ma’am. And in case you think I’m kidding, and you are under some delusion that my bathroom always looks like this, allow me to quote my five year old, “Mommy, I have NEVER seen this room look like this before! Is it going to stay like this forever? It’s like a whole new room.” Okay, Asher that’s enough honey no go run along and play. In my defense, all I did was remove the pile of clothes that had accumulated in front of the tub and clean the inch of filth that had accumulated everywhere. Asher tends to be a bit dramatic. Don’t know where the kid gets it from! *Wink, wink.*
When we bought this house it was nothing but a shell. It had been completely gutted which meant I was able to design it from top to bottom. I found this wood panel thingy at Home Goods before our house even had a floor plan designed. I had NO idea where I was going to use it, but I knew I loved it. I wanted my bathroom to have an old-world garden feel to it. This wood thingy complemented the mirrors I chose and added interest to an otherwise snore of a wall. I love it here. Tip: If you love something and the price is right, buy it. You’ll figure out a place for it.
If you know me, you know I adore the beach. All the shells you see here are ones I collected (minus the sea star.) Tip: Surround your bath with things that bring you peace and tranquility. For some it’s plants. For me it is shells!
This message in a bottle contains sweet nothings written by my hubby and used to contain my engagement ring at the bottom. He’s such a romantic. This was the bottle he used to propose to me.
Here is a pic of the privy. There is probably too much going on here. The sticks should go, but I like them so they stay. Tip: If you want to always have a roll on hand and have said rolls looking cute, place them abundantly in a wire basket.
This is my “Lettered Cottage Lantern”. Yes, Layla has a lantern named after her. I think about her and her chic self whenever I’m in the loo. I’m sure she feels honored.
More shells and apothecary jars in the window. I told you I loved shells!
My vanities are my favorite part about my bathroom. They were on sale at Lowes two years ago, and I snatched them up. I adore decorative scrolly things. Look at the mirrors, the chandeliers, the candle holders on the wall, the wood thingy above the tub, and the vanities. All of them are ornate. I can’t help it. It is what I am attracted to.
I had originally settled on a long double sink cabinet when plumbing was going in. When I changed my mind, the plumbers weren’t able to reposition the sinks without a lot of drama. No worries. I just decided I would find something to fill the awkward expanse between the sinks.
This cabinet was the perfect solution. It was a cheap find from Target. Tip: Baskets are a fantastic way to hide all of your ugliness and make things appear tidy. Rolling your towels instead of folding them adds interest and takes up less space.
Tip: If you don’t want to see how much you weigh, place a large conch shell over the numbers on your scale. Hey, it is totally working for me!
I hope you enjoyed the tour of my master bath!

I'm working in making my bathroom look spa-esque myself…well, accept that my bathroom is the size of your bathtub. While some may so "No job is to big…" I'm gonna go with "No job is to small…" I will over come. Congrats on the soothing bathroom. 🙂

Amanda, I couldn't find an email for you so I hope you'll come back and see this! The color is called Rosemary Sprig by Benjamin Moore. I've used it in several homes and it's my fail safe green.
Amanda says
Do you know the color of the paint? My tiles are very similar in color and my bathroom is so monochromatic right now. I think green would look great in there. Thanks

Love the conch shell!! (The rest of it is beautiful too!)

Wow Beth, that sure is a lovely room. Wouldn't it be nice for it to stay that way for more than a day… no stray pieces of loo paper, no traces of toothpaste, no soggy screwed up face washers, no little people's underwear, no messy mirrors… or is that just at my place?!?!

I didn't know your house was a gut and you got to plan the whole thing–very cool! I love the bathroom, too. Everything looks very comfortable, which is especially nice in a bathroom. 🙂

Your tub looks soooooo relaxing. We've lived in our house a year and a half and I've never been in the bathtub. These pics make me want to start using it. I love shells too. Also cranes, pelicans and fish. No wonder I'm taken by this room!

Beth, you crack me up…especially with the large conch shell and the "thinking of Layla" while in the loo comments! You're too funny! I LOVE your bathroom…and those sinks are awesome! I too love all the shells, and like the cozy romantic touch that the candles bring. It looks like a great place to relax…if you ever have time for that! Blessings for a GREAT weekend!

I had an "Aha!" moment with your rolled towels. I need to do that in my bathroom cabinet to make some space. 🙂 You have a beautiful space!

Great job Beth. My biggest decorating tip…clean and pick up! Sometimes I'll be out shopping, ya know looking at home decor items when it hits me, if I would just clean up my house could look this amazing!
Have great day!

Beautiful, Beth!! I love the little touches like the bottle with the notes and the shell ball hanging from the faucet. I am so remembering the shell on the scale trick! 🙂 Hope you're having a great weekend~

Your bathroom is so well appointed and elegant! And, no, I'm not surprised that it is either of those things.
My master bath is the one that is currently under renovation and it is 7 x 9 feet. I'm betting your foyer is that size. I know mine is. I'm going to post befores and afters of my bathroom late next week. You will certainly get a kick out of it.

Your bath is beautiful and perfectly functional, which is about all you can ask for!! I love the wire basket/toilet rolls idea and your bath tub is way cute with the bottle filled with 'sweet nothings' from your hubby and the pretty shells!!
Just beautiful, Beth. And I nearly peed myself laughing over what your son said. I NEVER see the floor of our bathroom until I kick the clothes out of the way!

Lovely bathroom. The perfect serene place to unwind after a long day!! I happen to love scrolly decorative things as well. It's just one of those things that unless you love them, you can't really get others to understand the fascination! 🙂

Well, after I finished CRACKING UP at the first line of your post, I was in heaven! Those vanities! Your bathroom is like a freakin' apartment! It's huge! Put a little TV in there, and you wouldn't have to leave. Okay. Fine. Put some chocolate in there, too. Love it, Beth. LOVE. it.
Jessi @ Yankee Belle Home says
Your bathroom is like a spa escape! Love it. I don't have a tub in our master bath, just a huge shower. I have to have my nightly bubble bath, and for now that has to take place in my son's bathroom. Not exactly a spa escape. Ahhh…someday!
I spotted the wire bird basket from Christmas Tree Shop! I have it, too. It's floating around trying to find it's spot.
And I love those Ikea jars. Ours are full of crayons and markers.
