Yay! Today I can finally share with you my entire craft room reveal! This week is Sherwin-Williams National Painting Week, and I was asked if I’d like to participate by painting a room in my house PINK! Pink??? Like baby-girl-nursery pink? Like bubblegum and cotton candy pink? Like Barbie and lawn flamingos pink? Do I dare? Oh yes I do! I’m not going to lie though. I was freaking out slightly nervous at the sight of the first coat of Sherwin-Williams Hopeful (SW6597) going up on the walls. But I was hopeful that Hopeful (tee hee hee) wouldn’t let me down. I had a vision in my mind’s eye of what this room would look like in the end, and I’ve learned over the years to trust my mind’s eye! It rarely fails me.
Many of my inspiration photos for this room included fun color palette breakdowns, similar to what you can achieve by using Sherwin-Williams Chip It tool. (If you’re not familiar with Chip It, I highly recommend it. It allows you to scroll over a photo and see the suggested SW paint colors based on the colors within the photo.) I thought it would be fun to include a vibrant color palette within the room, and my blank magazine box files provided the perfect canvas for this project.
I simply used craft paints to transform the boxes, and I love how they turned out! I keep old magazines, stencils, vinyl, craft punches, and other supplies hidden away in those files. Even though they aren’t labeled, I know where everything is located based on memory. True, I might not be able to remember where I put my car keys, but ask me where my circle punch is stashed and I can tell you! Go figure. It’s just the way I’m wired.
The gallery wall is one of my favorite aspects of the room. I’ll be telling you more about it in an upcoming post so stay tuned for that! The gold faux bois covered cabinets were a less-than-10-minute project. I’ll do a short tutorial on those for you as well sometime soon.
I covered the four cork boards with some white fabric I had on hand and made gold vinyl polkadots using my Cameo. A few of my toss pillows in the window have gold polkadots which inspired me to add some bling to the wall. They make me smile and add whimsy to the space.
Okay, full disclosure here: I have no idea how to knit. LOL! My top shelf desperately needed something inspiring and a basketful of colorful yarn and wooden knitting needles was what I had in mind. I used gold paint to add some sheen to the basket and bought a bunch of yarn from the craft store when it went on sale. I think that basket looks fantastic up there and it inspires me to learn something new! The Work Hard & Be Nice sign is something I made last year at the SNAP conference. It’s the perfect reminder for me in my workspace…especially the be nice part! *wink*
I shared with you my Greek Key Roller Shade tutorial last week. If you missed it, you’ll definitely want to check it out! All three shades were done for around $40. The window seat received a new furry cover courtesy of my old bathroom rug! I just cut the rug in half and used it to cover the old foam cushions. I also updated my toss pillows in this space which really tie the room together. I sewed a few new pillow covers and purchased a few ready-made pillows as well. My boys love to come in here after school and plop down in the window seat to keep me company while I work. Gotta love it when a space is pretty AND fully functional!
On the opposite wall of my desk area is my pegboard wall painted in Sherwin-Williams Sea Salt (SW6204). This area is so convenient for my most used craft supplies. I also have a full closet next to this wall for more storage and another work station on the far wall (not pictured because it’s 100% functional and not super cute at the moment).
My DIY Faux Deer Head makes his rounds to various parts of the house. Most recently he’s been partying with me and getting his craft on.
And that completes our tour of my work space! If you are looking for more paint projects and ideas, be sure to check out SWPaintingWeek.com for a ton of tools, tips, and inspiration! You also won’t want to miss my fellow “pink” girls, Decorchick and The Decorista who have their posts up today. Tomorrow the painted room reveals and furniture makeovers continue with Curbly, Thrifty Decor Chick, and Recycle Consign & Design. You can also check out the hashtag #SWPaintingWeek on all social media to see all bloggers posts for the week!
I’ll leave you with a few “befores and afters” of my craft room so that you can see all that has changed!
Thank you so much for stopping by to visit me and thanks to Sherwin-Williams for sponsoring this post! As always, my opinions, project ideas, thoughts, and tutorials are 100% my own.

I’m two years behind but where did you get the adorable garland hanging from the antlers?!
Beth says
Thanks! It was from some scrapbook supplies that I had on hand. I unfortunatley do not remember the name of the company.

I’d love to know more about the desks in this room. Are they just counter tops? How did you make them? I’d love something like this for my son’s room. They look like great space savers.

Debbie says
How did you do your Work hard & Be nice sign?
Beth says
Take a square piece of MDF and paint it a solid color. Once dry, glue a square of burlap to your MDF. Make a stencil with words using a Silhouette or other cutting device and use the reverse portion of the stencil (take the letters out and just use the “backing”). Place the stencil over the burlap and paint. Remove the stencil and enjoy your new piece of artwork!
Jessica @ Decor Adventures says
Really pretty! And I love all the use of different colors, they work so well. Glad you have a nice creative space 🙂
Jan says
I love this room! The colors look so happy and inspiring. I’d love to know where the floral pillows on the window seat are for or what the fabric is called. I’ve been looking for the perfect floral for ages and that looks like it!!!
Beth says
I love the floral fabric too! It was perfect for what I was going for in this space. I’ll do a post soon that contains all of the sources for the items in the room. (Since the post is sponsored, I was asked not to mention other brands/retailers in the post.)
Jan says
Oh, of course! I didn’t even think of that. Thanks for letting me know, can’t wait to see the sources!

Beth, your room is to die for! Absolutely adore the window seat and all the bright lighting you have. The pegboard and countertop is priceless!
I also revealed my craft room today and Behr Paint asked me to pick a color and I went with purple! Only an accent wall but it is dramatic! Definitely a first for me. If you’d like to take a peek here’s the link: http://martysmusings.net/2014/04/craft-room-makeover-and-organization-ideas.html
