People often ask me why I bother “going all out” for the holidays. Just look at those two sweet faces and you’ll have your answer. The Lord, in His wisdom, knew that if He wasn’t going to give me any girls He better give me boys with an eye for detail and an appreciation for decorating. Speaking of children and Valentine’s Day, V-day has come early to our home. Matt has been on a waiting list for a vasectomy and there was an unexpected cancellation on Friday. Matt is currently moaning and groaning upstairs as we speak. I decided to celebrate my loves (and the fact that they are the last little loves) with the following early Valentine’s activities.
My nickname for Zephy is “lovebug” so I thought it appropriate to make these little gluten free lovebugs for my lovebugs. The boys LOVED them (even the moaning one upstairs).
More lovebugs…
Asher saw a Valentine’s activity in his Ranger Rick magazine last month using jello jigglers and has been bugging…I mean begging me to make them ever since. Neither of the boys even like jello jigglers, but they loved decorating them for Daddy.
The following is probably more than you care to see, but I made a funny card for Matt and I’m amused by my own creativity. On the front of the card I placed a bunch of romantic stickers. Inside the card I placed a funny message and encouraging scripture, and then glued the number of “baby preventers” necessary before the vasectomy is official.
On his bottle of Valium, I placed the following funny sign.
Enjoy the humor!

I love the little poem! It’s hilarious. Hope the surgery went well and all are recovering- the love bugs look yummy! Ro will be so jealous of the jello craft.

Julia, I’m actually way more left-brained than right and my guess would be that you are too. (Right brainers tend to be the incredibly creative/artistic types and the left-brainers are the critical-thinking types.) I shouldn’t really brag about my creativity. I’m a great copycat. I love to find people’s ideas and springboard from there. Check out familyfun.com for the cupcakes, the jello jiggler idea was from Ranger Rick, and the vasectomy verse came off of a card I saw online. The checkerboard condom idea was all mine, however :).

You’re always so creative when it comes to celebrations! It looks like it comes naturally to you. I’m so envious! I have to work so hard at it – one of the side effects of being right brained. I should pay you to decorate for our holidays too! Looks like the boys loved everything, which is what counts the most.

I love how creative you are and I love your sense of humor! I love the card full of condoms – and the comment about shooting blanks! You have really made me laugh this morning. Enjoy both V-days! Hope that Matt feels better soon. Keep trying to persuade Peter to go and have it done – but no luck yet!
