First, let me start by saying that I am overwhelmed by your comments to my post regarding hurtful thoughts, words, and actions in our community. We bloggers rock. And we women, at our best, are so a-mazing! Let’s continue to be so!
If you’ve been wondering where I have been lately, I have been stuck behind one of these:
My hand currently looks like this:
And I look something like this:
Ugh.
On a happy note, congrats are in order to her:
Doesn’t she look so cute and happy? She should be because she just won the $50 gift certificate to Leen the Graphic Queen’s shop! Wahoo!
I’ll be back in a few with a post. Hopefully. If I ever escape this caulking hell I am stuck in…. Wah! (Note: The term “Caulking Hell” was stolen from my girl Michelle from Dream Home DIY. She twittermiserated with me this morning: @TheStoriesofA2Z Between that and filling all those pesky nail holes…good Lord I was ready to throw in the towel. Ha! @TheStoriesofA2Z About 2 hours in I asked Justin if we were dead and if this was hell hahaha.)
It is Michelle…it is!

Hi Mishmom! Thanks for the comment. Your profile isn't linked to an email so I'm not sure how to contact you but thought I'd try here :). My poor, poor backsplash is still unfinished! It's so much work and I need a huge chunk of uninterrupted time to finish it. Hopefully soon and I'll give a full tutorial on how I do it. Stay tuned! Blessings, Beth

I have been wanting to ask you for a while now about your kitchen back splash. Did you finish it or did I miss that post? I really liked what you were doing. Also, enjoyed your post about hurtful comments. People just don't realize how deep their comments can reach. I love the confidence you have in yourself.

I've just returned from nail filling chaulking hell myself! Ugh! Seriously the least rewarding part of the project I must say!

I was just thinking today, the neighbors must wonder why I'm always the one carrying the ladder out of the garage… There's always more home & DIY "H*lls" to muddle through :P. Best of luck! Hugs, Kim

Bless your heart…and poor lil hand! I don't show close ups of my Board and Batten, because I was too lazy to calk or countersink the nails 🙂 Maybe someday LOL You go girl! Your projects are fantastic!

Wallpapering is my personal hell.
I am sure that when you are done with the gun, whatever it is will look extremely spiffy!
(Love the pic of the polar bear- too funny!)
Blessings to you as you caulk your home!

Oh no – that's no fun! But you will be so glad when it's all done. I am terrible at doing the detail stuff, I am so impatient!!
I am sure it will be beautiful. Keep up the good work!!!

I am the only one that does caulking around here. I have been known to go to other homes to do their caulking too. It's a curse that I'm good at it. I have some to do myself. Just waiting for all the trim to be done so I can do it all at once. Have fun!

I know what you mean! I have been spreading mine out over several WEEKS because there is just so much caulking needed in our kitchen.
The mad woman behind the blog says
Wait till you get to play with black caulk!
What?
Okay, so what are you caulking and yes, I so know your pain.
laxsupermom says
Ouch! I hate caulking, too. Which is why I usually hand the caulk gun to my husband. Hehe. Still caulk guns are usually associated with a building/paint project, so I'm anxiously awaiting finished pics.
I read the comments post and can't remember if I commented on it(it was kindof a crazy day,) but I agree completely with all points. Thanks for posting what most of us are thinking.
Jenny says
Ouch! I don't know caulking hell, but I can imagine it's insane!
Holly says
Is caulking hell anything like painting hell cuz I've been there!

Hi Beth – I just read your post about the hurtful words … I don't get rude comments at all. I have a daughter who is a mommy blogger and feels really bad that her friends will look at her posts and rarely leave a comment (when she always does on their blogs.) I told her that I recently read something that was so beautiful – when you compliment someone, it is a gift to yourself as well. It is showing how much you can appreciate the good and beauty that is around you and express that to others. I LOVED that!!!!
(And great pep talk to the blogging community!)

Wow, Beth! I think that would have to be one of the top five horrible situations to be stuck in. I've been dragging my feet on getting my dining table and chairs painted, but if you can suffer through this, makes me feel like I had better get busy!
