This project turned out so cute, and I’m excited to share it with you today! I decided to make a Valentine’s countdown calendar for the boys using my Silhouette Cameo. I was hoping that the online Silhouette store had a 3D mailbox design and was thrilled to find this one.
I sized my mailboxes to my liking using the Silhouette software, printed them out on bright scrapbook paper, and then assembled and glued them together. Each day leading up to Valentine’s Day my boys will have a mailbox to open which contains a Valentine’s coupon. I wrote things such as the following on the coupons: 15 minutes extra bedtime curfew, 30 mins computer time, DVD of choice, choose what we have for dinner one night, homemade cookies, get a sucker from the candy jar, story-time with Mommy with book of choice, permission to jump on Mommy & Daddy’s bed for 5 minutes, etc. Those might not work for you at all, but if you’re looking for some ideas I thought I’d list some!
For this project I used:
- Silhouette machine <—-Use this special link with coupon code “A2Z” to receive a discount on your products!
- Silhouette Advent Calendar Kit
- 3D Mailbox Shape
- December Daily Numbers
- glue, ribbon, and free printable coupons
I used a herringbone patterned sheet of scrapbook paper for the numbers which was a mistake. They are difficult to make out on the side of the mailboxes but still look cute.
And below is a “pinnable” collage for you in case you’d like to pin this project to Pinterest (which would totally make my day)!
Do you want to make your own adorable valentine’s and so very much more? Well, now is a good time to purchase a Silhouette Portrait because it is currently on sale when you use the promo code: A2Z! You can snag one for $179.99 which includes
- the Silhouette Portrait machine
- all the software you need to get started
- a bonus pack of Silhouette double-sided adhesive starter kit which allows you to kick your cards and gift boxes up a notch.
And because Silhouette is an amazing company I asked if they’d let me give away a Portrait to one of YOU and they said yes! Wahoo! If you’d like a chance to win please follow the directions in the rafflecopter widget below.
For fabulous project ideas, I encourage you to check out the Silhouette blog and Pinterest page! You will find a TON of creative ideas in both these spots.
