I am still caught in caulking hell! Can you believe that? The more I caulk, the more I find other areas that need caulking. Hopefully after this weekend, I’ll be completely done and then some very fun projects can begin! In the meantime, enjoy this 2 1/2 minute video on how to caulk! My six year old did all the recording and his little voice is so darn cute :).
Next week, I’ll be showing you how to hang a curtain rod and how to make pillow covers so stay tuned.

How cute is your cameraman!? I hate caulking. I've been procrastinating the job on my board and batten in my girls' bedroom. Guess I should just git 'er done.

Ha! Someone who can relate to my "pain"! My husband and I decided to do a mini-reno last October. We had our whole plan and budget laid out. Then he says, "you know, we should probably caulk and paint all the trim." And I was thinking, "he's right! that would look great! I can do that in a day or so"……………………………………a few weeks later, I finally had all the main living areas caulked and painted. I never imagined how long and tedious caulking could be. Not to mention the hide was rubbed off my fingers from when I wiped the excess. But, good news! It WILL END!!!! Hope you are not getting too discouraged. It will be amazing when you're through!

Strangely I enjoy Caulking…don't know what that says about me, but now you know. 🙂

Honestly, that is THE CUTEST DIY video. Ever.
(I {heart} six-year-olds . . . they're the bestest!)
Thanks so much for the tips, as I needed them!
Mom to Many says
I think he has a future in tutorial filming. :o) Good job patient Mommy.
Caulking is one of my least favorite things to do. There are still so many places in this house that are begging for caulk.

He did such an AWEsome job! And kudos to you for being patient enough to allow that. I'm working on being a patient less perfectionistic person. Is that a word? haha. Beautiful job…give him a hug from me. Mommy of two. 🙂

Love the baby wipe idea – so much cleaner than using my finger. I loved your camera man even more, though. Stinkin' adorable!

Too cute! You will make his future spouse very happy teaching him to be handy like this. LOL I luv the baby wipe idea! I cut my old credit cards or gift cards in half and use them, it gives you a good sharp corner. Your walls look great!

That's too adorable! I'm pretty familiar with a caulk gun, but had to watch and am so glad I did. So sweet! And if he's you're go to cinematographer, he'll be doing his own DIY projects real soon. Thanks for sharing.

What a great helper Asher was… he may have a future there in cinematography.

Good advice here, Beth– I have to caulk my kids' tub today– ugh, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
Just think how wonderful your project will look when you're done!

Yay Asher! You did a great job!
Even though caulking is such a pain it is like magic in a tube. Just makes everything better!

Your son is too sweet! I am melting over here!
I love his little "yeah mom" and his little commentary at the end "This is where mommy caulked and this is where she has not" Totally priceless!
He did a great job!

Asher, you did a really good job being camera man and helping mommy out. Way to GO!
Beth, thanks for the caulking tips. My hubby says I have a caulk aversion, but honestly I just think it has to be done *right*. Not too much, crisp and clean..
Good job Beth!

This was really helpful and timely for me! We just moved into a new (to us) house, and I am going to have to do a lot of caulking in the bathrooms and around crown molding.
And your son was a fantastic camera man!
Chris says
Oh my word, I am melting over here!! I could listen to him talk for hours! Great job–to both of you!

So cute! I love tips like this and I look forward to the how to hang a curtain rod tip seeing as how we had one fall out of the wall recently.

Great directions! I think you and your son deserve an academy award for your VLOG!!!

Way to go, Asher! And Mommy!
Thank you for the baby wipe tip. Since one disastrous try many years ago, I've been scared to try my (very shaky) hand at caulking. But I think I could do this if I follow your directions!

this reminds me of a very humorous event this past weekend….we were visiting my brother and sister in law and they've just recently painted all of their trim and he said the trick was to… cauLk really well – that it was all about the cauLk and you only needed to use a little bit of cauLk if you had good cauLK – on and on about the cauLk but he always pronounced it with the L silent – it was hilarious! get it?
stephanie says
Beth, you know I'm just down the road a few miles, do you think you could bring that fancy caulk gun over here and help a girl out. Doesn't look like my husband is in any hurry to finish all the little detail work on my board and batten wall. I may have to take matters into my own hands! Love your little camera man!
brenflag says
Your son did a fabulous job filming and yes his voice IS precious.

Love it! His little voice is so precious. I'm thinking I may have to have Mr Amazing do a video tutorial like this next time – I loved being able to watch the process.
