I have always loved the look of pumpkins on the front porch! Would you like to see my collection of yummy autumnal front porch inspiration? (Let’s pretend you said yes!) Here are twenty-two fall front porch ideas for you. Click on the link underneath each picture to be taken to the source.
The Front Porch
We begin our tour with this lovely porch from Pottery Barn. Sigh. Pottery Barn. You inspire me with each season, but I especially love you in the fall. The black and white porch is the perfect backdrop for the Cinderella pumpkin topiaries.

Next stop is Sarah’s front door. Beep, beep! Everyone wave at Sarah! Hi Sarah! (By the way, it’s her BACK porch you need to be seeing right now. It’s awesomesauce. You’ll die.) Sarah proves here that you don’t have to have a large front porch in order to have a gorgeous one!

Yep. You guessed it. Pottery Barn again. A vintage rake and leaves make this porch perfect.

Sorry for the “google image” as main source on this one. I couldn’t find the original source; however, I LOVE this porch. It is a work of art. And by the way, do you think the triangle on the gable is stenciled? Photoshopped? It’s lovely either way.

And we end our tour at this lovely home. I have a few apple baskets and I’m thinking they will be just the right containers for a few of my mums. I also love the use of hay bales to add height to the mums on the top step. This is simply lovely.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the tour! I hope to show you my front porch sometime soon. In the meantime, please help yourself to a complimentary hot beverage back at Sarah’s house. (Pssst. Just run if you see any flashing blue lights.)

Love these ideas but we live in a squirrel infested area. Any tips on keeping squirrels from eating the pumpkins?????
Beth says
Hi Rshell, We have squirrels as well, but I haven’t had any problems with them eating my pumpkins yet (knock on wood). Our squirrels love to chew through my molding and try and nest in my roof beams, so if they eat my pumpkins as well I will not at all be surprised!

I love all these photos. Fall porches are so fun. I don’t know if anyone has commented about this, but I believe that the house with the decorated triangle on the gable is from Better Homes and Gardens (I remember reading this article, but I get a lot of magazines) and the triange is actually a board that they decorate (fabric, I think) and pop into the space. I’ve seen other photos of this house with a different triangle.

Garden Ridge has lightweight urns in a couple of different sizes and they are all half off right now. I got two smaller urns for $10 each. The big ones were on sale for $25 each.

Just an FYI. I was in our Hobby Lobby in Lexington, Ky today and they had a collection of lanterns in that reminded me of PB’s. The great thing about HobLob is that there stuff goes 50%off all the time. Or use their coupon. I plan to go back for a few when they go on sale. Loved all the inspiration.
Bonnie says
I think the gable is outdoor fabric. That way you could change it over the years or even thru the seasons!!
Love all your looks!
The enchanted home says

Your commentary had me laughing out loud! And I too am perpetually in search for cheap urns. I guess people have the good sense not to donate them to the thrift store….unfortunately!
Jill @ Craft in a Northern Town says
You had me at front porch! I love the Pottery Barn inspiration. And you have excellent taste!:) I have all of the others you mention pinned already! Hopefully will be able to actually create something this weekend based on all the inspiration.

Hi Beth, I think your google only porch is from Better Homes and Gardens. I remember it because the triangle about the front door was a mdf panel covered in outdoor fabric and I didn’t think it would last too long.
Thanks for all the wonder fall ideas, I am super inspired to put out my fall decor this weekend.

OH….soooo nice…..I only did a door decoration this year but that is one step up from last year!!! In our third Halloween in our home I hope to add some outside of the screen door fashions…this year I’m scoping the neighbors to see if it stays on long enough!!!

I am dying with envy over here! I have been working on the inside (learning to decorate by simplifying) my front porch wont stop screaming for attention! These porches are truly stunning
Amy @ the Happy Tulip says
Awesome collection of ideas! I saw the picture you included of the transom window with the mini pumpkins and realized that I can do that! I have a transom window! I can decorate it with pumpkins! (too many exclamation points? Sorry … I’m just so excited about such a brilliant, simple idea!)

Loved all those porches!!!

Last year the day AFTER halloween I got 3 black urns at Target for 50% off! They were part of their halloween decor and I snatched them up. You might check there again this year to see if they are carrying them. Too bad you aren’t closer… because they don’t really go with my front porch. At. All. Tear. 🙁 I’d hook you up with three! 🙂 They were just too great of a deal to pass up.
Joanne B. says
I am pretty certain I saw the idea for the design in a triangle above a front door in Lowes Crative Ideas magazine. I am not exactly sure, but I think it was fabric they covered over a piece of poster board that was then attached above the doorway- maybe with sticky velco tape? I tried looking online but didn’t see it there, so maybe I am just plain crazy! But I do know I saw it somewhere, just recently!
Shelley says
You, Beth, are a hoot!!! LOVED each photo and “driving” around with you 😀
Beth @ NashvillePug says
I have been on the lookout for cheap urns too and found some today at Lowes! I really wanted the pretty, black composite urns that look like concrete but are really light weight. They have been too expensive, and I’ve looked A LOT of places and online. I found some cream, plastic urns that have detachable bases at Lowes for $12 each and I plan on spraying them black! I almost walked right past them b/c the bases for the urns were not attached to the pots, so they didn’t look like urns. Make sense?! Anyway, check out Lowes if you’re up for a little DIY urn action!
Tardevil says
Great post. Love the inspirational photos! Now if the Fall Fairy would just come and wave her magic wand over my entrance, everything would be just grand.
{darlene} says
martha does it again. that is my favorite. although the monochromatic pumpkins on that grand porch is just as wonderful!
great collection, beth!

Michele says
Super fall porch decorations!
Erin S. says
All this fall inspiration is great! I’m getting in “da mood” to decorate my front porch. And that little triangle thing (sort of a pediment, huh?) is outdoor fabric-covered foam insulation board. I saw that porch in the Lowe’s magazine thing they send out and they had all sorts of ideas about how to re-create it. I can’t find the article anywhere on their website. Such a great idea, though! They also had a tutorial about how to make a twine ball garland out of twine (obviously 🙂 ) and a cool light topiary thing-y. Anyway, mystery solved! Thanks for all the great ideas in one place.
lesley says
Some great ideas Beth! I heard on the radio today that Pumpkins are going to be very expensive in Texas this year, because of the drought.. so I’m thinking fake ones will need to do.

Thank you so much for sharing!!! Fall is my favorite decorating season!
