Welcome to day 20 of our How to Decorate Series. Today one of the nicest bloggers in the blogosphere is going to be sharing with us how to decorate our homes with color. Yay, let’s hear it for color! And color is definitely what I think of when I think of Jen from Tatertots and Jello (as well as burlap, wreaths, ruffles, pennant banners, quatrefoil, chevron, and a ridiculous amount of creativity)!
Jen boldly repurposed her rarely used formal dining room into a functional and beautiful craft room. Isn’t it fun to see the place where she exercises those crazy strong “craft muscles”? It looks like a party is going on in there and I want an invite :).
Hi there — I’m Jen from Tatertots and Jello! I am thrilled to be here at Beth’s place. I was so flattered to be asked to participate in Beth’s How to Decorate series! I’m not really sure what my style is, I love so many — The Cottage Style, Modern, Eclectic, Shabby.
I appreciate those understated homes that are all done in shades of white, but for me, color makes me happy!
I think one of the most important things to make your home come together is to find a color that you love and use that throughout your home. It gives your home a cohesive feeling that flows. For me, I love blues and greens.
So I have used those colors throughout my home, and then I have added some pops of other colors as accents.

Loved this post! I love color, too. We just moved this summer into a new home and it was all painted very bland, boring colors–from putty to buff. The only rooms that had any variation were two bedrooms painted my least favorite color–blue! So, we started out in our room painting it green. Then we used Panera colors–terra cotta and brick red–in our library. We got stuck after that because all the colors I liked were variations of green. We finally dove in and decided since we both liked green, we would use it throughout the house! The rooms we have done so far are our favorite spots in the house. Thanks for telling me it was okay to use the same colors throughout!

This was so helpful and wonderful. 🙂 I love color, but I get scared about trying new things because we don’t have tons of $ to just go out and buy new accessories every time I get tired of my decorating style. 😛 But…I love the idea of picking inspiration colors that carry through the whole house.
Thanks, Beth, for this series. I have loved it and I’m learning a TON!!!

I LOVE Jen!!! She totally speaks my color-language! No white for me, though I can appreciate white walls too… it’s just that color just is the utmost stimulus of my moods and can totally change the feel of a room!

I’m finding this to be SO true. I was terrified of color all my life. (Especially since we’ve lived in rentals; you get the whole color=bad mentality.) I decided when we moved in here last month that I was NOT going to be afraid of color any more.
Now I’ve got even MORE ideas for adding some color into my white-walled life. : )
