Come see for yourself the difference good light bulbs can make! Cree’s LED bulbs deliver light that make interior colors appear more vibrant, rich and natural. Decor looks richer, whites appear whiter, and skin tones appear more creamy and dreamy. Cree LED bulbs can be found in the lighting section at The Home Depot stores.

I consider myself a decent photographer. I’ve studied photography, invested in good equipment, and I know how to edit my photos to make them appear bright and vivid in less than ideal lighting conditions. In full disclosure, I know how to make my photos look better than they really are! However, for the purpose of this post I refrained from doing so–which was so hard! I shot all pictures using the exact same camera settings, and if I edited anything in my “after” photos, I made sure to make the exact same edits to the “before” shots as well. I also took some before and after video which I’ll be sharing on my Instagram Stories, so be sure to follow me over there as well! I think you’ll be impressed with the Cree light bulb results!
Why Invest in Good Light Bulbs?
Good Lighting Makes You Feel Good
I am a natural light lover and always have been! If there is a room flooded with natural light, then that is where you’ll find me. When Cree asked if I’d be willing to try out their Daylight bulbs, I was intrigued but wasn’t expecting the dramatic change I saw! I love daylight and as a photographer I crave beautiful natural light in all settings.
I chose to test out the bulbs in my two favorite rooms—our dining room and breakfast room. We work, entertain, read, dine, laugh, play, and create more special family memories in these two rooms than in any other rooms in the house. These rooms also happen to receive beautiful natural light on sunny days. I never really thought about it before, but we tend to only hang out in these rooms when it’s sunny and typically keep the overhead lights off unless turning them on is absolutely necessary. Good lighting just makes you feel good!
Good Lighting Makes Your Rooms Look Better
One of the easiest, fastest, and least expensive ways to update a room’s appearance is to upgrade your light fixtures and light bulbs! Conversely, if you spend a lot of time and money designing and beautifying your home, it can be quickly ruined by bad lighting. Just take a look at the unretouched before and after pictures below. All of the before pictures are so warm and yellow that they look like I have a white balance problem on my camera! For all of my shots, the white balance was set to automatic on my camera and in Lightroom I left the white balance to “as shot”. I am a natural light photographer and even in the darkest of rooms I attempt to shoot with the lights off whenever possible, so these pictures astound me! No wonder we didn’t like having the lights on in these rooms before! 😂

Good Lighting Can Be Both Affordable and Reliable
With the myriad of light bulb options available, choosing the best light bulb for your space can feel overwhelming – anybody who’s wandered the lighting section of The Home Depot knows this! You shouldn’t be forced to choose between reliable performance and a decent price. When it comes to investing in a bulb that will be in your home for potentially 13+ years, choosing the best option is worth it and Cree’s affordable cost might surprise you!
Cree’s new LED bulbs are designed to last longer while producing the best light, are dimmable and backed by the industry’s best warranty—10 Year, 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. Cheaper bulbs often cut features to get to lower price points. One simple thing I noticed immediately about Cree’s light bulbs is the extra metal cap. It’s a simple design detail that makes installing the bulbs properly much easier!
Good Lighting Enhances Special Moments
Our family’s fall schedule this year has been unusually packed with work-related trips and house projects. Unfortunately, there just hasn’t been a lot of time to slow down and celebrate the season. My boys let me know yesterday that they wanted to do something fun and fall-related and really hoped I’d make a yummy apple pie or fall dessert for them. Gulp. Cue the mom guilt! With my husband out of town and my to-do list a mile long, I decided to do what any good busy mom does and toss together some semi-homemade treats to surprise the boys with! (You can see here how easy it is to elevate your store bought treats!)
Here is what the lighting looked like with our old light bulbs in place. This picture was taken late in the day after dinner.

And here is the after photo with Cree light bulbs! The Cree bulbs are the same wattage as my previous bulbs but are so much brighter. They flood the room with soft even light and make the entire space feel, well, picture perfect!

Because I can’t get over how much these light bulbs have changed the feel of the space, here is one more before and after for you!

Here are my lovely fall shelves lit with Cree lighting! If it wasn’t for the slight shadows on the pitchers, I would never know that these weren’t shot in all natural light.

Holy moly I am blown away! As a photographer and blogger, these bulbs are a game changer! I’m replacing all my bulbs with these now!

Yikes! When I saw the pictures on Instagram and there were no “before” and “after” tags, I assumed the more white ones were before. I may just be weird, but I really prefer warm light. The more white ones seem cold and stark. Again, probably just me.

In addition to their Daylight bulbs, Cree also offers warm white and soft white for those who prefer a warmer look. I love that we have so many options and choices to cater to our own tastes and preferences! I personally prefer natural light and as a photographer I want my white balance in my photos to look as close to daylight as possible. These bulbs help me achieve that which is amazing! But cozy and warm is comforting too and can be achieved with the warm white bulbs.
