Gorgeous violet and pink table setting idea perfect for Mother’s Day or any special spring occasion!
Creating beautiful tablescapes is something I love to do! It gives me an opportunity to play with texture, color, and decor ideas on a smaller scale. This week I get to celebrate both Mother’s Day as well as my 20th wedding anniversary! We like to celebrate milestone events as a family, so I wanted to create a special look in the dining room where we can enjoy some good food and make some memories. I am so pleased with the end result and will be sharing a few quick tips on how you can also become a tablescape pro!

Table Setting Tip 1: Start with an inspiration object.
Whenever I create a table, I find one object that inspires the rest of my design. This might be a plate, a vase, a napkin, table runner, etc. Find something that sparks your imagination and work from there! For this table I knew I’d be using the gorgeous Chelse Muse Floral ironstone dinnerware by Lenox.
These dishes are so beautiful and versatile. Like a crisp white blouse, they can be dressed up with heels but also will look fantastic with denim!
Table Setting Tip 2: Fabric napkins are a great way to choose your color palette!
Fabric napkins are one of my favorite table design elements. They are affordable and add a pop of color and texture often needed on the table. I found these Lavender Watercolor Florals Linen Napkins at World Market and felt inspired by the hues.
Table Setting Tip 3: Take your colorful fabric napkin into the flower shop with you to choose your flowers!
I walked into Trader Joe’s with my napkin in hand and within a few minutes had all the florals I needed to create gorgeous arrangements. A woman standing nearby was struggling to choose flowers for her arrangements and asked me how I was able to curate my flowers so quickly. I showed her my watercolor floral napkin and explained that I used the general color palette of the napkin as my inspiration for my flower choices.
Making design decisions is so much easier when you have a base to work from! Don’t underestimate the power of finding a good inspirational object for every design.
Table Setting Tip 4: Add something to your plate!
Whether it’s a flower, piece of fruit, name card, menu card, napkin, or other creative object, plates often look better with something on them. If your table is feeling a little flat, Try adding a little something to the center of each plate and see what you think!
