Want to create a gorgeous spring table that is dressy enough for Easter dinner yet simple enough for a casual gathering with friends? Follow these easy tips and ideas to create a gorgeous spring table! If you’ve visited Home Stories A to Z over the years, then you know how much I LOVE to create tablescapes! They are my fav! Here are some easy and attainable tips I use to create beautiful tables. Feel free to save this post to Pinterest for later!
Spring Table Tip 1: Purchase fabric from a craft store to create a runner.
I loved this gorgeous ticking stripe runner from Pottery Barn but didn’t love the pricetag. Inspired by the runner, I went to Hobby Lobby and purchased 3 yards of ticking stripe fabric on sale for $7/yd and stuck it on the table. This time I didn’t sew it, or hem tape it, or hot glue the edges. I just folded the material in half and placed it down the center of the table. I may sew it down the road but sometimes no-fuss is good enough!
Spring Table Tip 2: Mix faux and real greenery and flowers into your centerpieces.
This is not a new tip but it’s always a good one to be reminded of! Almost every centerpiece I create incorporates both faux and real greenery and flowers. When you mix the two together, it always helps the faux seem less faux! In the table runner, I’ve used faux olive trees with a faux garland and real flowering pear branches.
Spring Table Tip 3: For a personal touch, make the napkin special! Use coordinating ribbon or twine to tie off each napkin.
This is a trick I implement often! The napkin is the first thing people will grab when they sit down and place it in their laps. Make this focal point special by placing a name card, favor, special quote, post card, or other fun surprise in the napkin and tie it off with coordinating ribbon. It may seem time consuming, but I promise it only takes a few extra minutes and will instantly elevate your table and make your guests feel special!
Spring Table Tip 4: Raid the yard (or a friend’s yard) for free clippings, branches, flowers, fruits, and fauna!
Even when we lived in the city and my “yard” was the size of a postage stamp, I loved to implement this trick! Adding elements from nature into your tablescape will help it look more organic and luxe. It’s also an incredibly affordable way to add more for less!
Spring Table Tip 5: Set the heads of the table apart by using slightly different settings or napkins.
I implement this trick ALL the time and for reasons other than you may think! I will often be out shopping at HomeGoods and pick up a pack of cloth napkins which typically comes in a set of four. I never seem to be in the mood to buy a set of eight for my typical table setting of six. Therefore when I go to set a table, I NEVER have enough of one napkin to use all around and have to get creative. It’s just become a thing now, and I enjoy doing something slightly different for the heads of the table!
Spring Table Tip 6: Set the table the night before your event with everything that isn’t live or fresh.
It can be stressful to host a meal, prepare food, and worry about setting a beautiful table all in the same day. Ease your stress by setting the table at least the night before. I then typically add flowers or fresh elements the day of the event to ensure they stay looking their best.
Spring Table Tip 7: Don’t forget to dress up your buffet or hutch.
If you’ll be using the top of your buffet for a beverage or dessert station, feel free to keep things simple and uncluttered. However, for a more polished look it’s always beautiful to add a few elements to the buffet that coordinate with your table.
I just placed some faux topiaries I already owned with a pear blossom branch cut from the yard. Around the mirror I used thumb tacks to hang an olive branch garland.
