In the summer, I hate using a hair dryer and am known to wear my hair in a twisty updo most of the time. This is a great look for the beach, the pool, or when you’re just feeling lazy. In this video, I’ll show you how to very quickly create this look!
And if you have more time and talent, you can create these adorable double french braid looks.

More beauties rocking the braided updo look.
How about you? Do you have any cute summer hair tips?

My five year old and I just watched this…love it! She wants me to do her hair that way too. You are wonderful!! 🙂
I wish my hair was long enough to do this! Unfortunatly I'm a slave to my blowdryer bc my hair is short and flippy and it just looks curly (but not a good curly) when it's air dryed. I love those photos you posted – especially of Nicole Ritchies hair!
fixed it like this today. and my little ones hair too! love it. super easy and cool on the neck.
Beth you look adorable! I'm definitely going to try this easy hairstyle for summer.
I really hope you are okay??? You seemed a little sad to me in the video. I am postive things WILL work out just fine for you all!!!!
*Smiles & Blessings*

Beautiful! I love your humor and snappy wit! I do a slightly simpler version with one strand twisted up towards the head on either side and then wrap the whole back of it in a bun! It is my summer do of choice!!
You are too cute!
I LOVEEE the braided look & can french braid others hair, but not my own! I'll have to try this…seems easy enough! Thanks for the video:)
One of your last pics, looks like maybe bobby pins stuck in every inch or so…I like the end result(although wouldn't be as drastic on my dark dark hair)
PS. I NEVER blow dry my hair in the summer either. Just too hot. Always pulled up!
so cute! I will have to try this. I am at a stage where I don't know what to do with my hair. Grow it out or chop it off. I wear it in a ponytail ever day! So this is a great alternative.
I love this!! I will use it prob EVERY day!~ For my crazy curly summer (POOL) HAIR!! Thanks!
Very nice, Beth! I watched this at the day job with no audio! : ) I got the idea though and may try it. I used to do a french braid on my hair in the summer while it was still damp. Wore it to work, parties and even if I was just hanging out at home. I used to do it on my daughter's hair as well {when she was young}. I wonder if I can still do one.
What I've been doing, and to save damaging my hair from the blow drying and flat ironing, is usually once a week I will let my hair air dry, but I twist it up into a butterfly clip. Every so often I take it down and fluff with my fingers and twist it, then I twist it back up in the butterfly clip. Because I have wavy hair, it makes for nice soft, curly waves. It can not be brushed or combed though because then it becomes frizz. It's all finger combing and twisting.
I've been sporting double french braids, inspired by my 3 yr old's hair. LOL! I am def going to try this one out on myself. Thanks for the how to and inspiration. You are adorable as always! You do only live once 😉
cute! i'm gonna try that out 🙂
Very chic! I love the video!

Thanks for the video! This is the sort of tutorial that keeps on giving!
Great suggestion. I'll have to try it. I always do my hair the same way, so this would be a nice change.
Love it!
Love it!
Hi Beth.. Oh, I can tell you have hair just like mine! Mine is thin; but I still like long, and I like to be able to style it however I want. Like you say, you only live once. As I push 50 (yuck!), I DO still like to wear young (if it has to be labeled as such) hairstyles once in a while. So I could care less what some hairstyle watchdog thinks about it! You're as young as you feel!.. Love the video. You definitely make this look easy, and I can't wait to try it, especially during this heatwave we're getting, here in the Great Northeast! Thanks so much for sharing how. I know Dear Daughter is going to want to try it too! ~tina
I love it! I'm horrible at french braiding and that looks almost just like it! 🙂 Much easier than making my sister in law hop over and braid my hair… well, easier for her at least 🙂
xo
My hair is very thick and it's pretty long. Longer than shoulder length anyways. I can't get away with no blow dryers b/c it's naturally wavy and when left in its natural state, I look like I stuck my finger in a light socket. 😉
Sometimes I'll pull a section from the top over to the side, twist it, and then pin it for a little Boho Chic look. 🙂
Beth,
I am on to this…as soon as my hair grows another several inches.
You look so stylish, as always.
🙂 Laura
Very cool, and a lot less difficult than the french braid… I'm going to try it… Thanks!
Love your video and sense of humor! I will have to try it – thanks for the idea!
P.S. Loved the quote "but whatever, you only live once" Ha ha ha!!! 🙂 So funny. I am going to do my hair like yours today. We can be twins 🙂
Yes! I do something a little similar, where I take a section on each side of my hair and braid it, then pull all my hair back, twist, and pull it up into an updo with a clip. I have curly hair so just scrunch it and go. It is really fast, easy, and you can wear it on casual or formal days. Thanks for the video and idea!!
