Last week I shared these gorgeous pillows with you, and I also shared that I can’t sew. I own a sewing machine and I did sew two sheets together back in 1998, but that pretty much sums up my sewing resume. Armed with the following: your encouragement, an old orange t-shirt, an old tea towel, an old black sock (are you sensing a theme here), and batting from (you guessed it) an old crib bumper, I set off to sew myself some cute pumpkin pillows. Oh yes, and I may or may not have eaten most of a package of Halloween Oreos to keep my mouth full so my children couldn’t make out the cuss words help me get into the spirit of the season.
Try not to focus on my horribly crooked stitching job here, but if you look closely behind the “B” you’ll see all sorts of crazy people, dragons, and monsters.
And a few more gratuitous shots because I can….
Hello labors of my love!

these pumpkin pillows are so cute! you totally made me laugh out loud when you were talking about having a mouth full of cookies to cover your cursing…no matter how long i have been sewing…some projects still require a little yelling & cursing..at least that's my experience! xo
Amy {The Red Chair Blog} says
These are ADORABLE! Thanks for sharing them!
I'm an Oreo addict myself–actually, Oreos are the one food that I can't keep in my house because I tend to eat them "a row at a time" 🙂

Hi Beth~ ~Your Boo is so cute! If you keep at the sewing it gets easier as you have noticed. Thanks for the tips on the Avery iron on transfer paper. I believe you said before you get it at WalMart?

Ack…I'm so jealous! You learned how to sew, good for you! I also have an unopened sewing machine in my attic that I'm totally too intimidated to use! So it wasn't that hard? Cute pillows!
Oh, can you swing by the dashboard and look for me again? I think I'm up and running now but want to make sure!
Thanks, I owe you!

HI, Beth, I'm so glad I clicked over from a link at Technorati, when I saw you had posted about beadboard wallpaper & linked to me. SO glad you tried it too. In fact, I just did another project with it too on a wall & love, love it all over again. I hope you saw that I'm having a beadboard wallpaper party on Sept. 22, please join me!

Cute, Beth! You've ALMOST inspired me to pull my stuffed-in-the-back-of-the-closet sewing machine out and try it again. ALMOST! Keep it coming and maybe I'll do it! 🙂

Love these pumpkins…I saw your previous post with all the pretty color ones and went to that tutorial and printed it off…my only problem is I have to learn how to use my sewing machine also…had it for a year and not really tried to do anything…sort of scared I guess.
Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions says
These are so cute, Beth! I dread having to use my sewing machine now because I have to wear glasses for reading {the past 10 years actually} but it seems it is harder to see things like threading bobbins. You deserve another cookie!

Jenny Lynn,
I printed the letters onto Avery Iron-on transfer paper and ironed them onto the tea towel. You have to print them out in "mirror image" and follow the directions on the package. Not hard to do at all though.
Jenny Lynn says
Those look great!! How did you print the letters? What did you print them onto?
Christina says
Very cute!
arkie says
Cute pillows! Did you have a double thickness of fabric for the letters? On my sewing machine, it helps to have a double thickness or iron on some freezer paper to the back before you sew your decorative stitching. (You can just tear off the paper or soak it until you can remove it.) Sewing is trial and error. If you don't have a friend that sews to help you, just get a bunch of scrap fabric and try things out for yourself. Soon you find, it can be fun! Good job though!

This are A-Dorable! SOOOOOO cute! Great job!
Oh, and cussing is all part of the joy of sewing! You fit right in with the sewing crowd now! : )
I think my machine works better if I yell at it too!
So proud of you! Great job!
