I know, I know….I said I was going to take a week off and here I am. And yes, it is only the day after Halloween…and I am playing with my Thanksgiving things. But I couldn’t resist sharing this with you! Alright, let me start off with some confessions. First confession: I was so sick of Halloween decor that I started throwing out pumpkins and tearing down decorations before daylight savings had arrived. Second confession: I have never really been into creating a tablescape just for the sake of the tablescape. If I’m going to go to the trouble to set the table, someone better be eating at it. Third confession: I was totally wrong to judge you tablescape junkies. Setting a table just for fun is like instant decorating gratification with little to no effort. My eyes have been opened to your Tablescape Thursday addiction! However, we’re eating at this table today. It’s just too cute not to use it!
This Pottery Barn Kids picture below was my inspiration.
When I saw that cute Mayflower I knew I could make my own. I took an old basket off the shelf, stuffed some floral foam in the bottom, took some scraps of drop cloth, glued them to sticks, stuck them in the foam, and ta-da…a Mayflower.
I used some moss and a garland to cover the foam and add some charm.

The leaf plates came from Walmart last year and the pumpkin mugs and salt and pepper shakers were from Target’s dollar spot.
The table runner and placemats were purchased from the Lakeside Collection a few years ago.
And some more gratuitous shots for you…
As I sit here posting, my kiddos are munching on their apples. Zephan just yelled out delighted, “Awwwww yeah, a pirate ship.” Gotta go join them for lunch…and perhaps educate them regarding the Thanksgiving story!

I adore your Mayflower!!!! But I think most kids would think pirate ship before Mayflower. And you better watch out, tablescaping can be quite addicting. I'm usually too lazy to do it much though.

What a delightful table for the young ones. I ♥ your Mayflower, how creative.

I am horrible at decorating for holidays. I always want to, just don't like to spend money on stuff that will be out for a few weeks when I could spend it on stuff that is out ALL the time. However, I found your blog and you inspired me to try a lot harder. I will be back regularly for inspiration.

I like making pilgrim hats and slipping them over cups as place setting cards–I'll have to do a tutorial on it.

Your table looks great! I totally agree with you on the 'tablescape' thing. I decided to try one this Halloween and now I'm addicted! I have 3 leaf plates sitting on my living rm side table that I never know what to do with and before I even finished reading your post I jumped up and moved them onto my dining room table and put some fabric stuffed apples on them. It looks great! Thanks for the inspiration, I love everything you do!!!
