beth,

i was going to comment before i saw that you already got an outfit, that you should try to MYO necklace like those beautiful rosette necklaces and use ribbon. i am sure you have some scraps around.
i think you should carry a larger back, place your boots in them when not at the show & wear ballet flats or something comfy the rest of the time. and do carry a cardigan.
best wishes! i am so excited that you are getting to go. how wonderful. part of the fun is all the planning. enjoy!

Okay ladies, I went shopping and I have an outfit! I'm sure you'll see more pics of it than you ever cared to on Wednesday! Thanks for your tips. xoxo!
Tammy@InStitchessays
I was planning on wearing a new black and gray houndstooth sweater dress then I got the email about bright colors so now I don't know ! I have to wear comfy shoes so I'll start there. Cant' wait to see you, I'm sure you'll look great !

Oh Beth, I wish I could give you some great wardrobe advice, but the best I could do if it was me, is to just flip through the latest magazines, or just what I normally, most often do.. Ask my daughter "how does THIS look?" (I don't know what I'd DO without her!!).. Anyways, I did not know you homeschool your kids. I am just starting homeschooling with my son for the first time. I'm nervous about it, but I am hopeful. Wish me luck, and please send any advice my way, if you have any!!… Have a great time in NYC, and say "hi" to Nate for all of us!! ~tina

Beth- I keep thinking of the Friends show that Monica buys those expensive boots and tells Chandler that she will wear them all the time but they really kill her feet and she ends up getting a piggy back ride from Chandler through the city!
So, I say, wear the boots… and beg for a Piggy back ride! 🙂
Seriously… you will look great not matter what you wear! 🙂

Go with skinny jeans (tucked into boots), white cami and something like this:
Your so funny! Well I went to see Nate on 9/2 and it was 97 degrees that day so I wore linen pants and a cotton top. Although it is cooler in the studio. I'll give you a tip and if you werent the person assigned the tickets then you didnt read the email. They want you to wear bright colors…very bright. Everyone there is wearing pinks, purples, blue and they will seat you accordingly. So if you have a cute little dress I would wear it with those fabulous boots. Another tip…when you get into the city on 33rd just take the cab to the studio…you def cant walk it and the subway is a pain. Cab is $8.00 and will help you save the band-aids for your home improvement projects. Have fun…..I had a blast and my episode aired on Wednesday.

I'm sorry. I don't know – something cute? I can't think – I'm still laughing at you saying "I'm wearing band-aids" in your way. And it made me miss you. You crack me up.
Seriously though, I like the ruffley blouse and sweater idea. And comfortable shoes for walking is a must. Good luck! Tell me when to watch!!!
kellysays
i think cute, simple and what you feel good in, you said skinny jeans, just wear a cute top and the boots for the show but definitely not for walking around new york!!! can you please post if the show will be showing on tues or just filming and when will it air? really want to watch!
Janie aka Jane, Juanasays
Yes, boots on show only. Buy a pair of good walking shoes. I personally don't do sneakers, but a Merrell, or Privo. You might check Sierra Trading Post for a good deal. Clothing…….goe classic but make sure you have some cool jewelry on!

Did they give you a dress code? Many shows do for studio audiences (like no jeans, etc.) Solid colors work best (the camera does not like any patterns or stripes), black or brown for the bottom, and a great solid color shirt that goes with your eyes for the top. Many times they sit you closer to the front depending on how well put-together you look. I brought 5 outfits to a show once (that I was on), and they ended up giving me another girl's shirt to wear that was blue, because it went best with my skin tone and eyes. I would go with what you already have, and just borrow a nice blouse from a friend if you don't have one. Just my 2 cents! 😉 Might even be cute to wear a cute cardigan over a solid shirt (black skirt, black boots, nice shirt with black sweater). Sounds boring, but it is classic and will work!

As a New Yorker (well Long Islander really), black is always best. Cute trendy clothes like H&M are good way to go but as I said black is best!

I'm thinking skinny jeans, flat boots over my jeans, cute top with fab jewelry. No H&M :(.
Shelley Annesays
hi, so excited for you! what do you feel most YOU in? skirt? dress? jeans and a fancy shirt? comfy? dressy? if you give me a style/type of clothing, i'll try to come up with ideas! also, is there an h+m near you? love, s.
Design Apprenticesays
Beth I hope I get to see you there. I'll be going too and I absolutely love that you bought preventative measures before you know what youre wearing with them. I think I'm going to wear flats though I'm not sure myself. Hope to see you there in which case I may need one of those bandaids!

I would say a cute bright cardigan with a ruffled blouse in either a white or a fun print. If you go with a more neutral cardigan, you could do a big chunky necklace! I always think the people with great jewelry stand out in a live audience! You could wear great skinny jeans or a great fitted skirt with you boots.
TJ maxx or Marshalls always has great cardigans and blouses. Ann Taylor loft has great sales! As teeny bopper as the store may be, Forever 21 has GREAT accent jewelry and cute blouses and sweaters!
You could wear your boots just for the taping and wear more comfortable shoes around New York.
By the way! I love your blog and have so many inspirations for our new home!
Rhoda @ Southern Hospitalitysays
Ha! I'm agonizing over the SAME thing too. I even went to TJ Maxx & bought 3 cute & stylish tops & a new pair of DKNY jeans, so I'm about 99% sure I'm gonna wear the new jeans. Oh, & a cute, cute pair of shoes I picked up there too. The top part is what I'm having issues with. Solid bright color or a bright print?? I have both, but really want to wear the new print top I found. decisions, decisions! Don't fret too much, you'll be adorable no matter what.

I'm no help Beth. If it was all about what to wear, I'd NEVER leave my house! Things are that bad over here.
Have fun! How did you get into the show? Did you enter something for a chance to win tickets?

for the actual show taping, go with the boots!!!! they are super cute! we just got back from our first trip ever to NYC and oh.my.gosh…i've never walked so much in my life. my feet hurt and i opted for tennis shoes every single day!! broadway show, i grinned and took the pain in boots and it wasn't too terrible. can't go wrong with black and white and cute jewelry. totally agree with the layers too! i froze in the morning and got hot in the afternoons and the theaters were FREEZING!! have fun and can't wait to hear all about it! 🙂

Beth, you look great in everything! How about a pencil skirt and a blouse with a stylish cardigan. I think It would look so pulled together with your band aids and your boots!

Just got back from Target (at Highpoint), funny I thought I might see you there for some reason. Anyway, super cute dresses and graphic tees in the ladies/juniors department. It will probably still be warm next week so wear layers. I went to an Emeril Lagasse taping once and the studio was freezing but of course it was 90 degrees outside!! Have fun!!
