At the foot of my bed I have a fluffy, white flokati rug that my boys adore rolling around on. They have deemed this rug, “The Bunny Rug”. At least once a day, they can be found playing and wrestling on my rug.
This soft fluffy rug has led to a desire to own a real bunny. My response? Uh…no. We have enough living things that I’m trying to keep alive and enough living things (bugs) that I’m trying to kill! I don’t need another bit of chaos in my life right now.
Two days ago, Z begged me to buy him a fluffy, white bunny. One day ago, this cutie showed up in front of our home! Fate?
My boys sure think so…
…as does my dog! Gandalf ADORES this bunny. Seriously, he loves him. My dog hasn’t left his side since we found him.
We posted flyers around our neighborhood regarding the lost bunny and finally received a call last night. Apparently the bunny belongs to a magician (who boasts to entertaining the Gosselin children) and who happens to live down the street from us! The magician owns three bunnies for his show and accidentally left the bunny hutch open over the weekend. Our naughty bunny was the only one who chose to escape. The magician already bought a new, baby bunny for his show and said we can keep this little guy if we’d like. I’ve failed to mention this little piece of info to the boys (and the dog). I’ll stick with my Bunny Rug for now, thank you very much! But this unexpected blessing has added some much needed levity to our days. Enjoy!
My boys fed the bunny the grass I had growing in the window. He apparently loved it!

A long time ago my children were given a bunny for an easter gift.. a darling white bunny who lived for 13 years! I had a wire fenced garden and we put his hutch under muscadine vines. Even after the kids were grown and moved away the bunny hopped and nibbled around the garden. I hope your boys find as much happiness with their bunny as my four kids found with ours.

Hello! I read this entire post today and forgot to comment Beth! Yikes! I'm gettin' old. I LOVE that precious little bunny. Oh I hope you do keep him for your sons and your dog. So cute! I know you all are really busy though so I can why you would not.
Can you give us an update on the bedbugs? I hope and pray you are all well now.
Thanks for your sweet visit tonight. I always appreciate it.
Blessings to you and yours on this lovely evening. ~Melissa π

Don't be fooled by that soft fur and twitchy little nose.
Those things will eat your carpet!!
I know!! :-0

I'm brand new to your blog. It's so sweet, and I just had to say that Gandalf has to be the BEST name for that dog! He totally looks like a Gandalf. LOL

What a sweet post, Beth. Your boys are so adorable! I had a pet bunny when I was little, and that little guy ranks up there with my favorite pets. Bunnies are so sweet!
Mandi @ Finding Home says
Ohmygosh, this is way to cute for words! It seems so magical that a magician lives down your street and you found a rabbit that maybe gets pulled out of a hat. Haha, how funny! So are you keeping him? You're lucky that your dog loved him. Mine are trained to fetch rabbits so it wouldn't be pretty around here. π

Good to hear the whole story on the bunny. I was trying to piece it together. It's cute! My son would love that. Does it chew anything up? I heard they do that sometimes.

That first shot of your boys on the rug is the sweetest thing!
You should have kept the bunny. They can be trained to use a cat box. He was a cutie!!
Carmen says
What a twist of fate! It's like an angel bunny come to bring love and laughter…are you sure it was them that ate the grass? Angel bunnies don't do that you know. ;p
You have such cute boys, and your dog is so adorable!! Enjoyed the photos!
Carmen says
I can't believe you guys found the bunny outside of your house. What a crazy story! I probably wouldn't have kept the bunny either. We have two guinea pigs and my kids are always asking for a bunny. I told them I'd put some bunny ears on the guinea pigs…then we'd have TWO bunnies. HAHA!
Laurel @ Ducks in a Row says
He is adorable! – but I would probably make the same choice you did.
Jody says
I don't think my Keeshond would have been too excited to have a bunny in the house. Although he did like our cats.
How awesome that God was able to use your family to take care of one of his creatures! And that you guys were able to enjoy the bunny for a little while.

this is such a great post…I loved it. Loved the last picture of your grass…your poor grass. But how wonderful in the scheme of things a little bunny blessing to brighten your days. Loved the pictures of the boys wresting. We are redoing our house and I have a hole in the wall from one of my little football players who is now married, wrestling with his brother and punching the wall. OOOOOPs. but now it is fun!
Blessings,
Debbie

But, he's SO cute! And he showed up on your doorstep, ha! Glad you found out where he came from. I knew from the pic he was no wild bunny. He looks just like the bunny paintings I've seen all over.
So, maybe keep him?!!! Your kids will love you. π

One of my daughters had a rabbit when she was young. He was a black/white lop named Arthur. Arthur lived with us for 5 years until he escaped from the yard and met an unknown fate.
ps: rabbits make wonderful pets.

That bunny is adorable and so are your boys playing with it. I see you have a cairn terrier just like my mom's.

Your bedroom is beautiful, love the rug! The bunny is adorable, but trust me, give her back to the magician! We had one and they are MESSY! They can't help it, "it" just happens….ALOT! lol
Better to play on the bunny rug than actually own one!
Get'em a cat!

Oh, how cute. I used to have a bunny (holland lop) named, Lily. She was a wonderful bunny and we let her roam around in our living room at night for several hours. My dog, who is a boarder collie loved to sit close to her and stare at her.
They can be easily potty trained in her crate – her crate was actully a large dog crate -. She loved to eat bananas, blue berries, herbs, romanie lettuce (never ever feed them ice burg lettce – it can mess up their tummies)…She even ate cherrios. She would try to "steal" my husband's ice cream. (it was a funny sight to see)
I taught her to play with rabbit toys. We only had her for 3 years before she became extremely sick and we had to put her down. I miss her SO much!
My husband really wants to get another rabbit, I can't bear to get one right now..especially that I have a four years old who would hold her by the tail! π Maybe when he starts school, I will get another one.
I am glad that your boys enjoyed having her, even for a little while. π

Ooooh, Beth, it sounds like it was meant to be!! π I can't believe the timing. I LOVE the photo of him with Gandalf in the background. You should name him Frodo. π π

awww, i don't think bunnies are too much trouble and they can be potty trained in their cage kind of like a cat!
i would be skiddish too though with all the trouble you've had lately. how weird that bunny showed up at your house though?!

Adorable bunny! We only have a cat but thatβs plenty for now. A one time I had a large dog, a cat, a turtle, an umbrella cockatoo and a red belly parrot. NO thank you! Hope you got a new mattress by now and that the problem is under control.

Oh well, so much for the grass, I guess! : ) How cute! We had a bunny once when my daughter was very young. It wasn't the best experience, but it was an experience! Now we have tons of wild ones in our neighborhood, which gives us that little bit of "cuteness" when we need it.
