We had a great conversation this weekend on Facebook regarding the importance of backlinks. It’s obvious that a post needs to be written about this (but I so hate looking like the big meanie, so I keep waiting for someone else to write this post!) Also, I know that most of you had difficulty with my finicky buttons on Tuesday! So sorry that they weren’t working correctly. My programmer has corrected them for me and all should be well this week. Thank you, thank you to everyone who took the time to link back in spite of coding difficulties! Reminder: If you don’t link back to me in some form, you are not eligible to be featured.

I have been blogging less than a year so I am not even sure what a back link is. I think it is when you link the url of the blog you are showing, is that right? I do that on my blog when I show others stuff (am I right or is there more to it, if there is please let me know) Some people who are new to this might not realize what it is or how to do it. I think one of the down sides to respecting intellectual property rights on blogs is there isn’t really a “how to run a blog manual”, or is there? If so I should probably read it:).

My blog isn’t big–even after a long time of blogging, it’s still just kind of medium-sized. But if there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s this: if it weren’t for link parties, my blog wouldn’t even be 1/4 the size it is now. Not that getting to be a “big blog” is the goal–but let’s be honest: but getting people to visit your blog, to actually read what you put up there, is indeed one of the goals! I appreciate link parties so much. I honestly don’t understand why taking the tiny amount of time a link-back requires is such a big deal. As I see it, link parties are a huge help to the bloggers who participate, so they should also be beneficial to the bloggers who host.
BTW, you could pass for a good German with your blonde hair and blue eyes. But I don’t think you’re a Nazi. 🙂
