Well, I finally did it. I finally jumped out of my nice warm blogger bowl and into the frigid unknowns of WordPress! Yikes! Help! Eek! Oh my goodness, talk about a fish out of water experience. I don’t think my brain has felt this stretched since Statistics in grad school! (Mind you I got an A in that class, but not without a few tearful freak-out-moments and copious amounts of chocolate.)
Please bear with me as I try to smooth out all the bumps with the help of my awesome programmer, Tony from Evanpar Solutions. This might come as a bit of surprise to some, but believe it or not I tend to be a tiny bit on the picky and demanding side of things. Yep. I am not always the easiest human being to work with. (GASP! Say wha??? YOU?) Well, Tony has handled all my questions, tantrums and requests with a tremendous amount of grace. If you’re looking to make the switch from Blogger to WordPress, I highly recommend him.
I’ll be back tomorrow morning as our decorating series continues with a post from the Thrifty Decor Chick herself! Be sure to click around and play with all my new, fun, glitzy buttons in the meantime!
Beth, I’m really glad to find this post of yours! Jacque and I just made the jump to WordPress and have been feeling a bit overwhelmed! Glad to see we’re not alone in the “migration anxiety” I think we’ll be getting in touch with Tony from Evanpar Solutions. Thanks for putting this out there!
I am so glad that you’ve switched over to WordPress! I can finally leave a comment for you! Your site looks great and although I’ve never used Blogger, I’m sure you’ll love WordPress. I had never touched anything blog related and jumped into WordPress a few months ago with very little trouble (after the initial fear of completely screwing my blog up!). I read alot of WordPress for Dummies but I really needed an edition of WordPress for Morons…that would’ve been more my speed! Have a great day!!

It looks wonderful! I’ve been debating making the big switch too.
Looks amazing Beth! That’s it! I think I’m gonna have to make the switch too!
The site looks great! Trust me I know the fears! I tackled the unknown on my own and I feel like some days I see sun light and other days I want to curl up and cry. I will suggest having your blogs out of a short format where readers have to click to actually finish a blog to the more traditional site. I noticed that I was getting a lot less readers and interaction when I had mine set up this way and it’s been the basis in which I decide all my design stuff with.
Thanks Jami!
I agree about readers not wanting to click to finish reading a blog post.
It looks fantastic Beth….and woo hoo no more signing into to AIM so I can leave a comment….
All the best,
Kathy 🙂
Woo-hoo! You did it! Congrats on making the switch. I think you’ll love blogging with WP, and your blog looks fabulous! 🙂
Welcome to the WordPress World! You are gonna LOVE it!!

I had to check to see if I was in the right place this a.m.! I have been thinking about switching myself. Keep us posted (no pun intended) on the process, i.e., how many rants and how much chocolate –be specific ;)!
I think there are going to be a lot more “defectors” joining you with all the problems blogger has caused so many of us! Looks good, mind over matter right! Have a great day.
OK, I occasionally think about switching over to WP, (especially when blogger is all PMS-y and tantrum-y). I’m going to watch and learn from you (as usual) and then figure out what to do. It looks great! 🙂
Beth,
Your site looks great. You will love word press give it time. I love your blog. Hang in there. I am still learning.
Wow!! It looks fantabulous! On a side note, I had the exact same statistics issue. I failed every test, but I ended up with a B in the class (who knows how). It’s the only time I ever cried over a class! Too. weird. Love the new look!
This really looks great! Love the clean look of the menu bar at the top. I’m jealous now. I wish I had the courage to make the switch!! I’m going to wait a while longer though.
Everything looks great
Good for you Beth! I would love to hear about the transition. Your site looks great!
Beth, Great job, looks great! Congratulations! You will so glad even if your brain hurts for a few days! I too was a bit challenging to deal with with my designer as well so I understand what you mean! Good luck and have a great week, Laura
