I thought I would mix things up today by teaching you three of my go-to fashion tricks! If you’re reading this in a reader, hop on over to the “real deal” and watch my 3 minute video. I’ll teach you how to tie a scarf, how to braid your bangs, and how to dress so that you look thinner (and super comfy to boot)!

I love your blog and I love this scarf tutorial! Totally clueless on how to make it look right – in Texas we don't have to wear them that often! But now I at least know how to rock my scarves this coming winter! THANKS!!
Jemsmom says
Could you be any cuter???? The answer is NO!!!!! We were in the 80's and now it is the 50's!! Ack!!! Freezing here! May have to rock some leggings and boots again! Thanks for the great tips!

I was inspired to try the new "braided scarf" look today after watching your awesome video. A friend came up to me at church and said they loved how I tied my scarf with a cool braid! She asked me to teach her how to do it right there!! Your fashion trends are spreading like wildfire. Thanks for sharing!!

Super cute Beth! I am 5'10" and all of my height is in my legs, so I am ALL about the tunic / dress with leggings or skinny jeans (skinny only describing the jean style!). If I don't wear something long on top I look a little freaky out of proportion. Not sure about the braid for my crazy curly hair, but I will give it a try. Love the new tip for the scarf, I always just pull my through the loop- thanks for the tip!
You are too cute!
Take care, Laura

I'm totally trying all 3 this week. Maybe I'll do the scarf AND braid for church tomorrow. I'm speaking so perhaps if I look amazing they will be so amazed at how great I look and not focus on my nervous chatter.

I actually just bought my first scarf last week, and was struggling with how to tie it. Thanks SO MUCH for coming to my rescue – once again! You're my fashion guru!

Loved the braid tip!! I'm telling you, when it comes to my hair, I have 2 left hands 🙂 You made it look easy enough that maybe I can pull it off! Kim B.

Beth,
Absolutely LOVE all three tips! It's in the 80's here in Texas, so unfortunately I'll have to wait until November-ish time to try out the scarf trick. I'm going to try the braid dress/leggings today though! Have a great weekend!

Richella, when leggings came back out a few years ago I swore that I would never wear them. But I think as long as you wear them like hose, it's acceptable at most ages. I wouldn't dare wear them with anything that doesn't cover my behind :). I'm also not a fan of the capri ones. I think they look cute on the younger crowd, but they're not at all cute on me.
Beth@The Stories of A to Z says
LOL Stephanie! To answer your question, yes. There is a scarf secret society and I am a member. But after sharing their secrets, I will probably be banned! I saw on another blog a step by step pictorial tutorial showing how to tie a scarf. I wish I could find the source to site properly!

Thanks for the scarf tip! I'm gonna rock that one today!

I have had to start wearing scarfs a lot more lately because of my arthrities in my neck acting up and this scarf tip was perfect as I always have problems getting my scarfs to look nice when I put them on.
I have a pixie cut that I am growing out and one of my favorite hairstyles is the braided bangs right now to keep my bangs out of my face.
I love your dress. I do dress like this quite often, but I don't really have any dresses that I like to wear like this anymore. I think for the one I have I need to get a skinny belt to accentuate my waist.
Thank you for sharing, it was the perfect length for a vlog.
Genevieve says
Those were all great tips. I'm going to try the scarf think right now!
Richella says
Beth, you're a natural in front of the camera! I liked all three of these tips. I've never seen a scarf tied that way, but it's so simple and do-able, and it looks just great. And would you believe I've never in my life (all 47 years of it) learned how to French braid? So seeing your vide helped me to understand a little more of how it's done. I don't know if thick hair like mine would lend itself to the little braid in front or not, but I'm going to give it a try!
As for the leggings. . . I don't know. I've tended to think that those of us who were old enough to wear leggings in the 80's and 90's (as adults in the 80's and 90's, that is) are probably too old to wear them this time. But maybe the way you've shown them here would work. Any thoughts on whether women a little older could sport this look?
Thanks for the video! Hope you have a great weekend!

That was great! I live in a colder climate where scarves will still be a huge part of the wardrobe for awhile. I am FOREVER wondering how to wear it differently but can never figure out how everybody ELSE figures out how to do it! My attempts usually end up looking pretty goofy. I am excited to try this new way. Did you just come up with that? It looks like the majority of us are a little 'scarf challenged'. Is this just an in- born talent you posess or is there a secret society of scarf tying that we don't know about?
Misty says
Thanks for the tips. You should do this every week. I agree with a previous poster…how to "get your groove back".

Beth, you are awesome! Thanks for the tips…and, can I say that you look amazing! I love the scarf tip especially. I have a few but never wear them much because I always feel like I look so blah because I've never known how to tie them cute! Thanks a bunch!
Blessings, Grace

I think everyone agrees that you're super cute. Love the video 🙂 As for the leggings & forgiving dress with boots … this is basically my wardrobe to teach every day. It's super comfy 🙂 And the bang braid is done way too often by me too!! Ad for the scarf…I have never tied it that way! I love it! Thanks for the tip 🙂

Love this post!!! I find any excuse to wear leggings, they are just like wearing sweats 🙂 Super bummed though as the weather gets warmer since I'll have to be moving away from my go-to leggings 🙁 Any tips on how to look cute in the summer months without wearing short shorts would soooo be appreciated 😀

Beth, I am sooooo glad you showed how to loop that scarf! I could not for the life of me get it look like the ones Jennifer and other stars wear the scarves and have them look fluffy and cute. I hate the 'tails' and now I know how to do it! You're a lifesaver. Again. Thanks, girl friend!!
