Last month, I told you about a fun light switch by Lutron that is motion-activated and will turn the lights on and off for you! You can see how it works and watch my video on how to install the Lutron Maestro here. I have had my Lutron Maestro installed in our master closet for about a month now and I love it. My kids are guilty of not turning off lights in our home, but I have to admit that I am just as bad. I will have every intention of returning to a room after a quick “errand” to another part of the house, and then inevitably I get distracted by something needing attention and the lights remain on. I love that I can walk into my closet carrying a basket of laundry and not have to fumble for a switch. I also love knowing that if I forget to turn the closet light off Maestro has me covered.
Here is an informative infograph by Lutron showing the results of their Home Lighting Usage and Behavior Survey. Looks like lights are left on the most in peoples’ kitchens followed by the bathroom. In our home, it is definitely the bedrooms and the kids’ bathroom that need the most help with lights turned off. How about in yours?
If you wanted to try the Lutron Maestro for yourself, you can take advantage of the promotional offer below. I’m not sure how much we are saving on our electric from just the one switch in our closet, but I think if we install more we will begin to see a savings!
Offer: 25% off Maestro occupancy/vacancy sensor dimmers and switches on LutronStore.com PLUS one free Claro single-gang wallplate ($4.90 suggested list price) with each qualifying item.

Disclosure: This post is brought to you by Lutron. I was given the product to try in my home. All opinions and thoughts are always my own.
Really cool product. i think we will start to offer this to our customers and see if we can attract customers.
Oh boy who doesn’t turn the lights off can be a big can of worms, lol. In our house it’s just hubs and I. He’s real quick to holler at me for leaving a light on or a door open or? But he can leave windows open, doors open, water running, cupboard doors open to smack a head and I’m not supposed to say anything. As you can imagine it can cause some sore feelings, to put it mildly. We’re together 24/7 pretty much so togetherness can be a bit stifling. At night I come into my studio/office to read blogs, etc. and have some peace. He also watches things on tv I can’t stand and hogs the remote. Ah married life, almost 45 yrs. now.
This light monitor sounds great, will have to look into it, glad you shared this.
Happy week
