I used an old earring for the doorknob and dry-brushed on some gold craft paint to give the hardware an oil-rubbed bronze look.
Then I found the perfect place for it on my freshly decorated mantle. (Yes, I turned on the fireplace just for you. It is chilly here, but not quite turn-the-gas-on-chilly…yet.)
I thought about putting a letter H on the wreath or a Happy Halloween sign, but in the end laziness simplicity won me over.
Inside the cage are my “Happy Harvest” blocks (Mommy, why are the BLOCKS inside the cage?? Ugh. Help me.) that I recently purchased from Target with a b-day certificate. These would be so easy to make if you had some old wooden blocks lying around.

Oh my those sticks really made a difference in your mantel…as you can tell I have been slack in commenting so I had to get with the program and come back and comment on all the goodies I am seeing.

I love the tiny door idea and you have the perfect place to showcase it…

Oh, I love your Fall decorations! I am not big on Halloween decorations (I grew up in Japan and we don't celebrate Halloween, I espesially don't care for ghost or creepy decore style…).
I started liking fall decorations more and more each year. My kids love it. I love that your children have their opinions about the ravan being in a jar, maybe you can tell them that, it is better for him and warmer inside the jar. 🙂

Your mantle is DARLING! Haha, I wish I could come up with a good excuse for the bird being in the jar but I'm scratching my head too. Your bird does look really cute in there. Love the little chair he's on!

Where did you find a door so small? Love the display!

How cute! I love the pumpkin display you did. I saw white craft pumpkins mixed in with the orange at Michaels last week. I wound up passing them up, they just seemed too much even with a % off.

I love it…its called thinking outside the block of normal. Normal is fine, great…but your kids are learning that there is nothing wrong with seeing it another way,,the usual way! Now…explaining it and you to their friends might be a bit harder…hahaha

Hi Beth! Nice to "meet" you! I love decorating for fall! You have some great inspiration photos!
Thanks for stopping by to see me on my other blog (Evangeline's Vine) and for your sweet comment about my decoupage pumpkin. That was last year's project (probably the reason for little comments…no friends – haha).
I have that project, 2 other pumpkin projects and have a Fall Festival (blog party) on Mondays – stop over and see me at The DIY Show Off. 🙂
Have a great weekend!
