This is a picture of what my porch looked like last fall all gussied up and ready for her paparazzi. Shortly after this picture was taken, all, yes ALL of my pumpkins were stolen. What can I say? I live in the city. It happens. This year we don’t have the money to buy mums, and pumpkins, and gourds, and corn stalks, and hay bales. But I LOVE mums, and pumpkins, and corn stalks! (The hay bales…I can do without them this year. They were a big mistake. They made a complete mess of my car and became moldy after the first rain. I don’t recommend them.) So, I refuse to let the matter of no money get in the way of my decorating wishes. I have a plan to acquire all of these beauties for free! Wish me luck. It’s a long shot so I’ll be needing it. I’ll let you know how it goes.

That is seriously your house??? I Love It! I'm new to your blog. Now I need to go find some more pics of your house to look at. 🙂 I can't believe someone stole your pumpkins. One year, ours got busted. I was SO MAD! Good to know about the hay bales. I won't buy any.

My pumpkins were stolen last year too. I was really, really surprised by that. Who steals pumpkins?
I want to see your free (and thief-proof) plan this year!

AS U know, we did hay bales lots of years, but it was to feed horses! Mold was not good for them either. cheers, MIL

I had a hay bale and didn't seem to have any problems with it…except my dog peed on it every morning. That wasn't great. Mine must have been pestacized crazy.
If you live near any farms, I'd just stop and ask if you can glean some of their corn stalks. I know a farmer friend had someone pull up alongside their field and just start taking them and they were MAD. I can't wait to see what you do for your decor. We had zero $ last year for decorations. The hay bale came from our dog kennel (they sleep on hay and the hubby stores bales in the garage) and we received a mum plant and a pumpkin as a gift. I was still more decorated than anyone on my block!

Love your porch and I hope you post it to the Celebrating the Holidays party on Wed.
Just checking in A-G-A-I-N
My blog has been growing like gang busters and while that is great I haven't had much time to visit my blog friends. I decided I needed to make some time for some visits, cuz I just missed everyone too much. Come back over for a visit as well.

Yep, I've also had a 'not so great' hay bale experience…moldy and what to do with it when I didn't need it anymore! (But on the flip side, all the fall decor I did that year was SOOO worth it…it was a great staging area for homecoming pictures of my daughter and a large group of kids from school!) Hope all goes well with your plan!
Enjoy a great week!

I did the hay bales one year and never again. Good luck with your plan! I've even been hesitating over buying pumpkins; maybe it's just too early for me yet.
