So today I was thinking….(gratuitous “thinking” picture below simply so I can show off my curls :)…
…What can I put in place of all the Christmas photos on my dining room pinboard? Deep thoughts, yes, I know. I have seen a lot of bloggers framing their silverware so decided to try my own version.
I used corsage pins to tack those babies in place, and wa-lah! Instant silverware art. Also, I have made it very convenient for any potential silver thief walking in front of the house. They can easily see all of my silver on display through the front window and take note of what they might like. So thoughtful of me, eh?
I love the look of ornate silver. These pieces used to be Hubby’s grandmother’s once upon a time. I only have random forks and spoons but would love to someday have a complete set.
I also like my silver a bit tarnished. I think it adds character.
Simple and lovely. Works for me!
If you want to see how I made the knock off Pottery Barn pinboard, click on the link here. Gotta run. I have a party of six coming over for dinner and the house is a wreck. I wish vacuuming was as fun as tacking up silverware to a board and blogging about it :). Alas….It. Is. NOT.

Beautiful! What kind of board is the silverware pinned onto? Just wrapped in linen?
Beth says
Thanks Adriana! I made the framed board back in 2009 so forgive the poor quality photos but you can see how I made it here: http://www.homestoriesatoz.com/decorating/pilfering-pottery-barn-pinboard-plans.html

I did the same thing as a gift for my mother-in-law. Her aunt bought her a single piece on each special occasion for years. They have her initial on each piece. I took one place setting and mounted it in a frame. However, instead of using the pins, I took silver thread and tacked it to the backing. I think this made it a bit sturdier than the pins would.

First – lovely curls! The silver is gorgeous too! Did your dinner guests think their place settings were to be retrieved from the art board? 🙂 ~ Angela

Wow what a great idea. I did something similar with a silver dagger of mine. Yes I have a dagger! I hadn't thought of doing that with other silver pieces until now. Thank you for the idea. Happy SS

Beth this looks so pretty! I love it!

Very adorable! You've given us all a reason to put silverware up on the walls. It'll match the spaghetti sauce that Benjamin throws up there. haha.
If you get a second, look at the back and tell us the pattern name that way we can look for you while we're out thriftin'.

Such a creative idea! I have some silverware from my great-great grandmother that I have been wondering what to do with…perfect!

You look beautiful as always, and I love your hair. I'm glad you showed a close up photo of the pins, because I couldn't figure out how you had it pinned. Love the look of that silver mounted. You're so lucky you have those pieces!

What a beautiful silver set! I didn't know you had inherited it. A kids devotional book I have suggested getting your child to polish silver as an object lesson for how God's grace makes us new. So put A. to work polishing and call it a teachable moment! 😉

I love this idea! I have a bunch of silver from my great grandmother, but not enough of a set to ever use. I am going to figure out a way to display it! Thanks for the inspiration!

Pretty project! 🙂 This is a great idea for those of us who might not have a complete set of silver!
Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions says
Well, your curls look just fab! : ) This is a nice idea especially for a dining room or kitchen. If you need extra silverware for your dinner party tonight, you can just stand up and pick one off your display! I found a new linky party called Silver Sunday ~ I know it's only Tuesday, but you should link this up to it on Sunday. {I did one this past Sunday if you want to know the blog}.
