I am neck deep in old baby items that I’m getting ready to consign. No crafting, no decorating, just cleaning and tagging baby toys for me this week. No fun! No worries though because I have the most creative friends who don’t blog (yet). Today I’m highlighting a dear friend and fellow school counselor (Tip: Elementary school counselors are typically incredibly resourceful and creative people. If your child has one, be sure to tap his/her resources and don’t forget him/her on all those teacher appreciation weeks!). Julie is mommy to two little cuties aged 2 1/2 and 6 months. She recently made over both her boys’ rooms and is allowing me to highlight some of her clever ideas!
Julie saw these vintage airplane prints in a Pottery Barn Kids catalog and fell in love with them, but wasn’t so enamored with the price. Can’t we all relate? She cleverly used her trusty scrapbook paper and made her own vintage airplanes for FREE!
And how about this idea. Julie took a plain shelf and personalized it by painting letters and adding embellishments to the sides. So cute!
In her nursery, Julie has a Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star theme. Tip: Something I love about both of her boys’ rooms is that they are not too “themey”. You don’t strictly see all-things-celestial in her nursery which adds more character and gives a more organic feel. For the wall decor, Julie made stars, covered them with fabric and added a sweet button to the center. Above the crib, she once again used her scrapbook paper and constructed these adorable elephants.
Star cut-outs were painted and glued to a plain white shelf and little dragonflies were constructed (how Jules?) and hung on the wall to add some whimsy.

How funny! I just found out I'm expecting – and a lady at church sensed it was a boy lol. (Who knows. We'll find out eventually!) Thanks for the sweet post.

Hi ya! I'm stopping by from Decor Mama's. I just have to tell you that I love the ideas you showcased in this post. My sister is soon to have a baby boy (the first boy in our family!) and I'm helping her do his nursery on a small budget. Got some great ideas! Thanks!!

This may give me the courage to play with fondant. Great ideas I'm going to use once I have a house- or a room for the boys!

That is some adorable baby art! I am so happy to see that we don't need to spend the money on Pottery Barn Kids! 🙂

Beth – thanks for featuring me and my creations. You flatter me, really! BTW – those little fireflies…I made them from that thick, foamy cardboard and just drew and decorated w/ colored pencil. Oh, and a little glow in the dark paint for the tails, so they light up little Jackson's room at night.
Love ya!!!

See – this is what I love about your blog – it is making everyone want to have a go at some of the stuff that you have been doing! This stuff makes me wish that I had some little boys to design for!

I love that idea for displaying artwork!! Really cute idea for making your own letters too – buying them can be so expensive!

I LOVE that she used the binder clips to hang art! Brilliant!
