Perhaps it is because we don’t have any grass to speak of around our home, or perhaps it is because when we did have a lawn it was my nemesis, but I have been very anxious to grow some grass! In the spirit of Earth Day, I thought it would be fun to show off my long, luscious, lovely “lawn”!
I bought two little seed packets at Target’s Dollar Spot, placed some Miracle Grow soil in my three little buckets, and distributed the seeds evenly between the three containers. I lightly buried the seeds beneath the soil’s surface and a week later….voila! Grass!
The grass has already received it’s first haircut and it looks like it could use another trim. This is Rye grass and it grows like a weed. Hmmmm. Perhaps that’s because it is one?
I love it. It is a very fresh, simple windowsill decoration which looks great in the kitchen and is nearly brown-thumb-proof.
However, I am growing more than grass around here. If you missed my post on container planting, be sure to check it out here. And if you haven’t entered The Pleated Poppy Giveaway be sure to do so! And one more thing, my url has changed! I bought my own site domain so it is now thestoriesofa2z.com. Please update accordingly. Now go plant something and show it off!

That grass looks so fresh and lovely. I have bought my own domain name too but are hesitant about the move. Maybe you can tell me how you did it, because you showed up in my reader like always.

I love the look in your silver containers. So fresh and springy.
I have five acres of grass and woods so my family would die if I began to grow it on the inside.

Looks so clean and neat! I am going to try to grow a few pretty containers of grass as a tablescape for a baby shower. I will probably kill the weed. We will see!
