Sharing tips on how I freshened up our front porch for spring! Don’t miss my easy wreath hack. It’s a great tip for creating a beautiful wreath for less.
For the last two weeks, I have wrestled weeds, leaves, bugs, dead bushes, toads, snakes, lizards, overgrown shrubs, red clay dirt, new plants, and mulch—and I have finally made progress! My spring exterior and porch are finally looking cute! Yes, I know the “lawn” isn’t going to be winning any awards anytime soon.😬 But when you live in the woods under a ton of trees, you learn to pick your battles. For now I’m focusing on the beds and the porch, and today I want to give you some quick and helpful spring porch decorating tips.
Porch Decorating Tip 1: Layer your front door rugs.
One rug is cute and two is even better! Layering front door rugs is a trend that is still going strong. Use a small indoor/outdoor rug and layer a cute doormat on top. I used an inexpensive rug from Walmart topped with a mat I found at Aldi.
Porch Decorating Tip 2: Use two of the same plants on either side of your door.
Whether it’s ferns, flowers, topiaries, or evergreen trees, using symmetrical plants on either side of your door is always a winning formula! I used two boxwood topiaries in white planters. I found these in the garden section of Walmart and love them!
Porch Decorating Tip 3: Use this DIY wreath hack instead of buying a new wreath each season!
The wreath I wanted for spring was much more money than I wanted to spend. So instead, I purchased a floral garland at 50% off from Hobby Lobby and attached it to a magnolia wreath I already had on hand. I frequently layer inexpensive wreaths and garlands over plain wreaths I already own to create a new look. Watch the video below to see how I did it!
Porch Decorating Tip 4: Weather permitting, bring some indoor accessories outdoors.
This tip may not be practical depending on your weather and climate, but I like to bring a few indoor accessories outdoors on my porch. I use baskets, inexpensive washable throw blankets, and toss pillow covers on my covered porch. I like my outdoor spaces to feel like an extension of my home!
Porch Decorating Tip 5: When in doubt, add ferns!
Ferns are inexpensive, hardy, and look fantastic on the front porch! You can find varieties for both shade and sun, and they add a lush pop of green without much fuss. They look beautiful hanging around the perimeter of your porch, or just plopped into a basket or planter.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’d love to have you share this post to Pinterest!
