A few weeks ago, I gave you a sneak peek of my foyer and a mini-tutorial on how to use Royal Design Studio Stencils. The foyer is all painted, caulked, and primped and ready for some paparazzi!
Unfortunately for the foyer, the paparazzi doesn’t know how to use her camera so all the pictures are a bit dark. Note to paparazzi: Take a photography class.
I bought the cute cottage bird hooks from my sponsor Timeless Settings. They also come in ORB and baby leaf green.
I LOVE them!
Here is your view as you enter the front door. I had planned to have cheap Target mirrors cut to size and edged with molding (a-la-Layla) on those coat closet doors, but it was going to cost around $40 and another day. I wasn’t feeling it right now but it’s on the to-do list.
Here is a reminder of what this room sort-of looked like before:
And here is the after!
And here is the breakdown of where everything is from:
And here is what you see when you close that big wood door (that still needs refinishing). Our mudroom.

Just discovered your site. Love what you did in your foyer and kitchen!
Someone had asked what paint color you used in the foyer, but I could not find a reply. What brand/color did you use? Thanks!
Beth says
Hi Terrye, I actually used a combination of acrylic craft paints in the foyer.

I am loving your blog! I love the stencil. I went to Royal design.com and found the “birch allover” to be my favorite. I even posted that stencil on my facebook wall. I KNOW I read somewhere that you are giving away a free stencil. I really hope I win!!!!! Thank you, and I look forward to following you Beth!

I have a similar pattern as a backsplash as well as a type of frost glass surrounding my door, that I did with a film from home depot!
Beth says
Ooo, sounds fabulous!

I absolutely love your foyer transformation! I just stenciled my hallway a couple weeks ago using a stencil from Royal Design Studio…I love the difference it makes!

Ok…that is the bomb.com! I love it! It looks so neat and chic! You guys make these projects look SO easy…and then someone like me tries and it is a complete FAIL! LOL

It’s fabulous! What an awesome statement. The stencil, the board and batten, the details like the bird hooks – it’s all fabulous! I read your guest post on Emily Clark’s blog too and I could relate – I unsuccessfully had yellow and red in my home too.
Lisa says
I think you did an AWESOME job!
Emily @ I Love Farm Weddings says
This is beautiful! I’ve been looking for inspiration for our porch/entry and I might have to try a few of your inspirations from yours! Thanks for sharing!
Laurie says
Fantastic! Luv it! Beth, could you post a close up of how you tapered the boards at the bottom of the wall? Or at least I think you did. I used 1 by 6 for my floor molding with a flat edge on top and the vertical boards strait on bottom, what a dust collection spot! I don’t know what I was thinking.
Meliss @ Shabby LOCO says
MAN!I WISH I had the balls to stencil my entry way! =(
I need to grow some and get over my envy..hhaha!
Great Job!!

Beth,
I found this on Pintrest and clicked on it because I’ve been thinking about doing this for our dining room and wanted to see if there was a tutorial not even realizing that this was YOUR post!
So you can only use acrylic not lacquer? How time consuming was this?
AND HELLO! HOW HAVE YOU BEEN?!
Rach H says
Ah, I’ve looked at this post several times now, its sooo pretty! I love your style!!!

Kristi @ Addicted 2 Decorating says
Somehow I missed this! So glad it showed up on the top of my Facebook wall today, because it’s FABULOUS! What a difference some stenciling and board and batten makes, and then all of the finishing touches are the icing on the cake. I saw a garden stool like that at Marshall’s several months ago, and talked myself out of buying it. Now I could kick myself. I’ve looked every time I’m in there since, and they have never had more. Boo!! And of course, the price is at least double everywhere else I look. Oh well. Glad you grabbed it, because it looks great in your entryway.
