Stenciled Foyer

A few weeks ago, I gave you a sneak peek of my foyer and a mini-tutorial on how to use Royal Design Studio Stencils. The foyer is all painted, caulked, and primped and ready for some paparazzi!

Unfortunately for the foyer, the paparazzi doesn’t know how to use her camera so all the pictures are a bit dark. Note to paparazzi: Take a photography class.

I bought the cute cottage bird hooks from my sponsor Timeless Settings. They also come in ORB and baby leaf green.

I LOVE them!

Here is your view as you enter the front door. I had planned to have cheap Target mirrors cut to size and edged with molding (a-la-Layla) on those coat closet doors, but it was going to cost around $40 and another day. I wasn’t feeling it right now but it’s on the to-do list.

Here is a reminder of what this room sort-of looked like before:

And here is the after!

And here is the breakdown of where everything is from:

And here is what you see when you close that big wood door (that still needs refinishing). Our mudroom.

The end.

  1. Just discovered your site. Love what you did in your foyer and kitchen!
Someone had asked what paint color you used in the foyer, but I could not find a reply. What brand/color did you use? Thanks!

  2. I am loving your blog! I love the stencil. I went to Royal design.com and found the “birch allover” to be my favorite. I even posted that stencil on my facebook wall. I KNOW I read somewhere that you are giving away a free stencil. I really hope I win!!!!! Thank you, and I look forward to following you Beth!

    Nichole

  3. I have a similar pattern as a backsplash as well as a type of frost glass surrounding my door, that I did with a film from home depot!

  4. Ok…that is the bomb.com! I love it! It looks so neat and chic! You guys make these projects look SO easy…and then someone like me tries and it is a complete FAIL! LOL

  5. It’s fabulous! What an awesome statement. The stencil, the board and batten, the details like the bird hooks – it’s all fabulous! I read your guest post on Emily Clark’s blog too and I could relate – I unsuccessfully had yellow and red in my home too.

  6. Fantastic! Luv it! Beth, could you post a close up of how you tapered the boards at the bottom of the wall? Or at least I think you did. I used 1 by 6 for my floor molding with a flat edge on top and the vertical boards strait on bottom, what a dust collection spot! I don’t know what I was thinking.

  7. Beth,
I found this on Pintrest and clicked on it because I’ve been thinking about doing this for our dining room and wanted to see if there was a tutorial not even realizing that this was YOUR post!

So you can only use acrylic not lacquer? How time consuming was this?

AND HELLO! HOW HAVE YOU BEEN?!

  8. Ah, I’ve looked at this post several times now, its sooo pretty! I love your style!!!

I would love for you to link this up at my weekend Link Party, Once Upon a Weekend. This weekend is my first-ever party, and I am so hoping people will participate! 🙂

  9. Hey, girl, I saw that sneak peek & couldn’t wait to see more. Love, love the stencil, looks gorgeous in that space. In fact I have that same stencil tucked away & would love to break it out & use it somewhere. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s going in my parent’s house. 🙂 xoxo

  10. i don’t know how i missed this, beth, but i’m in love with your transformation! the combination of the stencil & the paint color totally freshens up the space. what a wonderful way to come home!

  11. I love your foyer! The stenciling is amazing too! I’m hoping you rescued your cute dog from an Amish puppy mill, they are the worst!!

  12. Somehow I missed this! So glad it showed up on the top of my Facebook wall today, because it’s FABULOUS! What a difference some stenciling and board and batten makes, and then all of the finishing touches are the icing on the cake. I saw a garden stool like that at Marshall’s several months ago, and talked myself out of buying it. Now I could kick myself. I’ve looked every time I’m in there since, and they have never had more. Boo!! And of course, the price is at least double everywhere else I look. Oh well. Glad you grabbed it, because it looks great in your entryway.

  13. Gorgeous, just gorgeous! You did an amazing job and I so want to steal your foyer for my home. Ha ha love th dog in the pic, mine are camera divas too!

  14. Wow Beth! Your foyer turned out beautiful {and those bird hooks are to die for!!!} I’m sure now, it was definately worth all the pain in the patootie dealing with stenciling wasn’t it?! You did a great job and the room looks so fresh and airy! Great job!!

  15. Hi, Beth. As usual, your photos are great. I actually look forward to seeing your site… uplifting. It gives me hope as I look around my house, which is a work in progress, for sure.

  16. I love this look. My hall/foyer is so narrow but I wonder if something like this would work?! Hmmmm. Wonderful job. Just provided me with some inspiration. Thank you.

  17. OMWord!

it totally sets the stage for your beautiful home. the color & the white is so crisp. gorgeous stencil. i must admit, i think i would go crazy doing a stencil. i don’t think God made me for that type of detailed work.

    beautiful job & gorgeous room.

    xoxo

  26. Beth, it’s awesome!! Love the color you used and the puppy finishes it off nicely. 😉

  27. I can’t believe no one has commented on your cute little pup. Looks like he is there as the “official greeter”. What a cutie, and my second fav would be the bird hooks. Going to check those out, but it looks like I had better hurry or they will be sold out. Thanks for sharing your talents.

  28. Oh. My. Drool. I’m in love with it. I dare say this is my favorite thing you’ve ever done–and there’s a long list of favorites! It’s beautiful, Beth! LOVE!

  29. Gorgeous!! Good for you to fix that wreath–I probably would have left it broken forever and then been frustrated. Those hooks are perfect for that space and give it even more character. You have a nice touch!

  30. Beth, it looks amazing! I love the colors and love those bird hooks! I think I need another shopping spree at Timeless Settings! 🙂 Great job!
