Stare at My Staircase Party!


Wahoo!  It’s finally here!  And I happen to be fashionably late to my own party which is pretty typical for me.  Let’s get this party started.  Grab a cocktail, or a cup of cocoa, get comfy and let’s stare at some staircases together.  Here below are some befores and afters of my own treacherous staircase.

I stained the banisters dark walnut, painted the risers white, and used stickers I designed for the numbers.

For the wall, I found some birdhouses on sale 50% off at Hobby Lobby and they determined the theme for me.

I collected other vintagy-bird-related items from around the house and stuck it up on the wall to join in on the theme.

Hubby wasn’t crazy about the whole idea of painting numbers on the risers.  I used stickers so that if I tire of them down the road I can scrape them off.  Plus they were soooo much easier than creating stencils for each.

The lovely people over at JK Vinyl Designs are giving one of you ladies (gents?) a custom vinyl design.  I have requested for you (hope you don’t mind) that this design be one of numbers!  Who can’t use some cute vinyl numbers?  Think numbers on the back of your dining chairs, on your steps, up some drawers, on some Christmas boxes….  It will be cute.  To be entered in the giveaway all you have to do is link up to the party.  I’ve asked JK Vinyl to choose a winner.  Good luck!

  4. Beth, those are GORGEOUS!!! Love the design enhanced numbers for a nice change. They look so great against your rustic brick wall. I smiled at the birdhouses, that is so something I'd come up with. 🙂

  11. Your staircase looks AMAZING! I have 3 stories worth of stairs in my house…ALL carpeted. I would love to make a transformation like this! Really, your staircase is fabulous!!

  13. Love, LOVE your staircase! Wish I had one to share, but I just live in a one story…so I'll just have to gawk over all the beautiful stairs that I see and hope for some of my own someday! I love the bird theme that you have going on! And those number stickers add just the right touch! Thanks for letting me stare!

  17. Love it! Beth, you took on the steps and climbed the ladder successfully to the top of the stair redo world! The bird theme is fun and whimsical – they'll be wonderful with the Christmas decorations. How about those stickers – I thought for sure you laboriusly stenciled each one, and yet you amaze us again with finding an easier and better way to bring it all together. 🙂

  21. Oh my gosh, Beth. Your stairs look beautiful! I love the numbers, and I think I actually agree with your husband that stickers are a great idea! Love them.
    I am hanging my head in absolute shame when I say this, but mine are not done. Life apparently got in the way of me remembering that it was the 18th already. The fact that I only have 3 steps to redo makes that sad, doesn't it?! 🙁 I'm sorry. I had such plans. I can't wait to check out the other links, though. Maybe if I get really ambitious today (meaning no 2 y.o.) intervention, I will do a before pic post and do a drawing of what they will look like.

  23. Beautiful work! I love the after. I really {HEART} the birdhouses! You did a fantastic job with the decor, it's warm and flowing with the staircase. The numbers are an added touch that adds just a bit of pop. Great idea to use stickers so if you tire of the look you can change it up!

  26. This looks great, Beth! I wondered if you had painted the numbers on {that could get time consuming}, but love to hear they are stickers. I like the white you added to the risers. I have plain old pine stairs and was wondering how that would look.

  28. Oh, it's so pretty! They all are, in fact. I am so jealous I don't have a staircase to stare at…believe me, I looked. I wanted to join the party so bad, I tried to talk hubby into building me some stairs, he wouldn't bite…darn it!! I am still searching the neighbors houses to see if they have any staircases I can makeover 😉 hopefully I will find one before the deadline. Until then, I will just enjoy yours and all your guests 🙂
