Hi everyone! My name is Beth and I am the one attempting to create beauty out of chaos around here! Sometimes I even create chaos out of beauty :). Either way, I love to share my DIY home stories with all of you! [Read More …]
Yes she is my big sister, but even if she weren’t I’d still be inspired by her laundry room makeover!…

Kitchen Progress
December 19, 2010
This weekend I have been painting, and paiting, with a side of painting! Things are slowly improving around here though and I wanted to give you a sneak peek of the kitchen. To remind you, here is what this corner looked like before. Ugh. So red and icky.
And then after some fresh paint, eliminating accessories, repainting my “EAT” sign, and hanging some bamboo blinds later…(and yes, I had to resist the temptation of figuring out how to photoshop my thighs smaller.)
We have this! I apologize for the bad pic. It gets dark here so early now that a blogger really has to plan well to take pics. I didn’t plan well.
I was inspired by this Country Living pic for my Eat sign. Not quite the large vintage letters, but I’m pleased with it. My four year old wondered if we were going to get a “poop” sign for the bathroom. Such a cheeky little monkey, that one!
And now that the kitchen is looking better, we’ve begun to tackle the board and batten. I will be painting boards from now until next week. Oh my goodness, this is so not fun! But I’m excited to see my vision starting to come together!
And yes, I’m totally insane to be doing this right before Christmas, but I’m hoping to start off the new year with all of my big 2010 projects BEHIND me!

haha… got a chuckle. Your boys are too funny! Leave it to a four year old to come up with that. I was reading it aloud to my husband and my five year old was like, what?!? who said poop?!! Haha
Too funny, asking about letters for the bathroom! Painting the kitchen made a huge difference, it looks great! Can't wait to see the result of the board and batten project… Janell
Beth, When I saw that photo of you on the counter I remember thinking what is she talking about?! She looks great! Forget Photoshop, you have nothing to worry about.
That is looking fabulous!!! I can't wait to see the board and batten! We just got back from one 5 year old princess birthday celebration at Disney! Will be posting soon… must rest!!
Love the Sea Salt Color. Speaking of paint colors, what is the color called in your boys bedroom/paint company? I love it and have to paint my girl's room and would like to do a color like that.
I just wanted to share with you that I made some lemon ornaments from your inspiration for my dining room Christmas decor. The room is yellow & black so it works perfectly. Thanks for the inspiration!
Crazy but a good kind of crazy. As to painting those boards. Go check the archives from FunkyJunkDonna's blog. She once painted that shelving unit of her and found a really less time consuming way to paint a lot of those baby's at the same time.
Oh I'm having so much fun catching up reading your blog right now. I've missed you while I was away on mini vacation with family!! How funny is that to say to someone I've never met?! Love it. Okay, so girl that kitchen is looking amazing. I can't believe the transformation because it seriously looks like a different home! Also love the eat sign, and I'm doing the same thing by getting all my projects done. I've got two more pillows and one stop at an antique store for some galvanized metal items, then I'm DONE! (Until I come up with projects in 2011, which of course I will…)
Merry Christmas sweet new friend. So happy I found you this year!!
I am amazed!
And don't even talk to me about Weight Watchers until Jan. 1.
Girl, you crack me up ! Your kitchen is looking great and there is nothing wrong with your thighs….
Great job! Want to do my house next?
: )

You are really progressing! Isn't that fun?! See you in a few days!
Looking great! Makes me want to get up and start my rooms upstairs.
Looks like your off to a great start…..love a girl who tackles projects during a holiday week. lol Happy Holidays and happy painting!

Poop sign in the bathroom! Bwahahahaha!!! That's hilarious! Anyway…the kitchen is shaping up. I love the new colors.
Beth that is one gorgeous looking kitchen so far. You look great by the way.
It's looking fabulous! I love your sons "Poop" comment the best. I'm still laughing. Kids do say the darndest things.
It's lookin' great!
And I think you need a PEE sign too. So sorry….I've been living with a house of boys for way too long!
Your kitchen looks great. Love the poop sign idea, I may have to steal that one….
LOL about the POOP sign. That is funny!
I would go insane painting boards!
Love what you did in the kitchen! Can't wait to see your board and batten! I don't know how your getting all this done at Christmas! Good luck!

Last I remember you were working on a rock back splash for the kitchen. Has that disappeared?

The color on my 2nd level (and boys' bedroom) is Benjamin Moore's Sherwood Tan. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/bmpsweb/portals/bmps.portal?_nfpb=true&_br=1&_pageLabel=fh_home&np=colors/1054
It's looking really good, Beth! I'm so glad you settled on a color you really like.
And I do love a cheeky little boy. . . the best kind, you know. Kind of like engines. The cheeky ones are also really useful.
It's looking lovely, Beth.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.

It looks terrific, Beth. I laughed out loud at your son's "poop" inquiry. Your resolve to do this during this time of year amazes me!
laughing about the "poop" sign. This is such a great improvement! And your thighs DO NOT need photoshopping!
