Pretty in Pink {pink rooms}

Have you received your latest edition of House Beautiful yet?  I received mine last week and enjoyed pouring over the pink pages all weekend.  As a mom of two boys, I find myself in a household of all “men”and there is a shockingly scarce amount of pink around here (unless you count that mysterious ring growing around the boys’ toilet bowl, but let’s not go there).  
Perhaps it’s because I long for Spring or perhaps it’s because pink just screams “I-feel-pretty-oh-so-pretty” but I am craving some long-lost-pink in my life.  And since I’m craving it, I thought I’d get my pink fix in this blog post!  So let’s start our pink tour with a bouquet of my favorite flowers!  I can hear my husband shaking his head. Peonies? I though her favorite flowers were tulips and hydrangeas.  Well….I have a lot of favorites!  Makes it easier when you’re buying me flowers, eh? *Hint, hint.*

This kitchen with pink appliances makes me smile.  Almost as much as peonies ;).  I would never buy a pink refrigerator, but I have to say that I’m loving this one.

This is a barely pink paint color for those not ready to fully embrace a full pinkness.  This color looks more peachy to me though.

I like the subtle pink stripes on the wall and the chairs, but I would have done something different on the bed. It’s looking a bit too stripey.

I am LOVING this next photo.  This isn’t even what I would consider “my” style and yet I’m drawn to everything about it.  The nailhead trim on the table is fantastic.

Going bold in a closet is a fun way to get your pink fix without taking too much of a risk. Hmmm…. Maybe I could do something like this in my master closet.

Using the pink on the accent wall and the fabrics balances it out with the rest of the room.  I love this breakfast nook and could be very happy drinking my tea there.

This pic reminds me of an old Victoria’s Secret box.  Pink and black is a romantic combo.

  3. Was in the salvation army thrift store the other day and found a vintage pink Kitchen Aid mixer. Had to be from the 40's or 50's and it was in beautiful working shape. Would be the perfect thing with that pink fridge! Wish I had bought it 🙁

  5. I have a house full of boys too…hubby, 2 sons, even the dog is a boy…well, an "it", but anyways…loving the pink! I always crave some when I'm feeling overwhelmed by all the non-girly colors that I'm usually surrounded with. I think I might just go buy myself some flowers today to pink things up a bit! Thx!

    I too am joining the pink bandwagon, although I was averse to it for 30+ years. Call it trendy, call me changing my ways, but I am looking for ways to bring pink into my home for sure.

    Of course the hubs hates it, but that's fine, I'll keep it in my girl rooms 🙂

  14. luscious pink! i love that pink kitchen…we have an aunt that has a pink kitchen with all the pink vintage appliances that have NEVER been used…she had a kitchen in her basement and never used the upstairs pink kitchen.

  22. I adore PINK! It has been my favourite colours for years and so many people tell me that light pink is the best colour on me with light skin and hair. I added pink accessories in my office nook and I *LOVE* it so much. It's the only pink in the house. I would love to have a pink refridgerator in my *dream cottage* some day!!   24. I like pastels so I probably have a little pink in every room. One of our baths is a blush pink, not too much. I am not a hot pink person!!

  26. I am loving this! Did you ever see that movie with Audrey Hepburn- "Funny Face"? They work at a fashion magazine and the color du jour is pink- "Think PINK!" was their song. Your pink post made me think of that. Love it!

If I was just starting out on my own, also 30+ years ago – I would love to have the tiny kitchen with the pink refrigerator with the Keep Calm and Carry On poster. You can't get much more girlie!     You really captured some great examples of pink …. all of those rooms were so fun. Years ago when I was first married I decorated our master bedroom in pink. What was I thinking? But the hubby didn't have a problem with it …. I told him real men love pink 😉

  29. I just spent the afternoon at Barnes & Noble thumbing through a stack of design mags. I spent an inordinate amount of time with the pink section of the current House Beautiful. Sigh. Those of us with boys have to just get our pink decor fix through pictures.

  35. Pink has always been a forgotten colour for me. When I was a teenager, I never wore it. But my husband has been buying me pink stuff every so often for years. My daughter LOVES pink, as all girly 3-year-olds do. I like it, but it would never be my first choice for clothing or decor for myself.

  37. wow, Beth, you found a lot of great pink pics! I was eyeing a pink chair at the auction yesterday, thought it would look so pretty in my blue and white living room, James just gave me "the look"

    For now, I settle with pink rose china here and there around the house.

  40. I don't have any pink rooms- yet! I've been waiting to re-do the nursery ever since we found out we were having a girl but put it off because she sleeps in our roomi. Her co-sleeper bassinet. I plan to get on that soon though bc she's outgrowing that quickly! I planned out her nursery all in my head while I was pregnant & pink/grey/light green are the colors I'm going with!! This post just lit a fire under my butt to get started!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
