Before I do the review, I would like to address the following comment.
Beth, I would really like to display your “Mantel Party” button on my blog, but I am embarrassed by
the misspelling of the word “mantel”. The correct spelling is “mantle”.
Um, anonymous, no. It is not. I actually covered this in a previous post, but let’s review it one more time, shall we?
mantel , (less commonly) mantle
n
n
1 a wooden or stone frame around the opening of a fireplace, together with its decorative facing
2 (Also called) mantel shelf a shelf above this frame
(C15: from French, variant of mantle)
(C15: from French, variant of mantle)
Do you see that? It says both are correct and that “mantle” is the LESS common way to spell the word. So, for all of those concerned by my apparent lack of education, please feel free to display my button proudly. I personally love it when you can spell something two ways and be equally right! How often does that happen? Grey and gray? Blond and blonde? We should celebrate our mantel mantles by spelling it anyway we pleasey please!
Okay, let’s start that celebration. This week we had some really fantastic Valentine’s themed mantels. This is just a sampling for those of you who have yet to pull out your red hearts and love banners.
The Feitner Adventure I am a sucker for barn stars, lanterns, and cake stands so she totally had me on this one!
A Santamaker’s Journey You must see all of her photos! They are as gorgeous as her mantel. Don’t you just love that birdcage?
Organize & Decorate Everything Candles, hearts, banner, and birds! Perfect.
Alecia’s Decor and More I never would have thought to hang a curtain rod over my mantel or to put wreaths on each end! Such a creative idea.
Our Nifty Notebook I love the ragamuffin garland and her cute heart wreath. I also love the idea of framing a piece of child’s artwork!
Tattertots & Jello She’s been featured before, and I hope I will get to feature her again. I love everything about this mantel!
Just a Girl This mantel proves that just a few simple touches can update your mantel for the holiday. You don’t have to change everything to be festive!
And the lucky winner of the placecards from Lovely Scribbles is:
One Cheap B*tch ! Congrats! And no, I have not lost my mind and started cussing out fellow bloggers, that is actually the name of her blog. Uh, One Cheap B*tch, feel free to contact Nikki directly to submit your contact info.
I hope to see everyone else back here next Friday for another great party! Thanks to everyone who linked up this week. You inspire me!

Beth, I loved the way you handled the mantel spelling comment. My first posting I made my husband saw it and said "Deb you spelled mantel wrong"…I said no I didn't and I looked it up for him, much to my own surprise it can go either way….mind you this was before I even saw your button LOL!!~ Such pettiness is something us bloggers do not have time for!!~ You would not believe the things I have received before I knew I could review the comments first…wow it was scary is all I can say!!~ I love your blog and I love your sense of humor!!~ You rock!

MANTLE SHMANTLE! Who the heck cares?!?!? Number one rule in decorative blog commenting: If you don't have something NICE to say then don't say ANYTHING. Listen to yo' mama'!
Great mantels ladies! My husband has a ginormous TV on ours so I'm excluded from particpating.

I have to say I've never seen it spelled "mantel", but I looked it up and that was the end of that. Google is your friend.
I love all of the mantles! Thanks so much for featuring me too!

Hi Beth,
Thanks so much for hosting the mantle or mantel party every friday! So much fun to see everyone's ideas. It's one of my favorite places to decorate. I am flattered that you posted about it as well!
Sorry I totally forgot to add the link to my post, I was in such a hurry..we went out of town on friday and am just getting back in touch with my blog. Enjoyed reading yours!

Hey! That's my sister! Congrats to my sister for winning! Great review, Beth. I loved all these mantels.

Yay! I won! =) Thanks Beth and to Nikki for this great giveaway!
And ouch to anonymous. I have to add my two cents: in 100 years it's not going to matter how mantel/mantle is spelled. Aren't our blogs supposed to be fun and to share ideas with one another? I'm sure I've spelled words wrong and used incorrect grammar in my postings but at the end of the day, does anyone really care?!
I loved all of the mantle photos! Great work everyone!

Stand your group – The problem with that reader was they didn't "care" about showing their mantle/mantel, they just wanted to complain. About something – anything – and it is just sad.
IF someone is going to write something that calls you out on something that they obviously haven't researched fully themselves and gets all pissy when you educate them properly – well that is just their problem. 🙂
I am glad we work hard to built a positive community around our blogs. And if someone doesn't want to be a part of that then by all means let them get on their high horse and ride off into the sunset.
Hugs!!

Dear Anonymous,
Yikes, who is the bitter one here? Seriously, no bitterness on my end Anonymous. I send you away from my blog in love. I handle personal attack with humor and sarcasm and if that is offensive, I apologize for the offense….but not for my choice in coping mechanisms. As bloggers we receive a lot of attack and always from "anonymous". I choose to be bold enough to stand behind my words.
Love,
Beth

Lovely mantels. Now I am paranoid that I am not spelling it right. Cracked me up the way you handled that BTW. Congrats to your lucky winner!
You are lovely Beth!
XOXO

Congrats to the winner. I actually am glad to know there are two spellings of the word. Why? Because I'm one of the ones that always spells it mantle. Rare breed am I?

I think I'm going to have to send you a private email. That is SUPER wack, and if the lady didn't care about the spelling in the first place, then why was she so embarrassed to put the button up????? Uh, okay. Just so you know, I would still be your friend and want to come to your annual neighborhood Christmas breakfast and hang out at your parents place, and have dessert at The Melting Pot even if you were an awful speller in real life. 🙂
Anyhow, I really love the 2nd, 5th, and 6th mantels/mantels, and I feel like a loser because I don't get all done up for special occasions. Maybe one day . . . ? Enjoy your Sunday!

Hey Beth, thanks for featuring my mantel in your review post. I need a better camera or maybe I just need to learn how to use mine. Sorry for the lame picture. I think we belong to a club. I got an annoying anonymous comment this week too. Grrr! I need to learn how to handle it better. And BTW, I like to spell it mantel. Great party!

Whoa. Okay. I have to admit, I don't spell mantel very much. I'm glad I know how now. I never really thought about it before.
So, I really liked all the mantels! Super cute. That's all I really wanted to say.
HouseMama says
Umm….I'm worried about the way you spelled b*tch. I think it's missing a letter. It's not gramatically correct. And I'm embarrassed. Hahahaha. JK.

I love how those who leave snarky comments are always "anonymous". Great party!

It takes a little more than that to get rid of me…I'm still following you:)
Looks like you've got some talented gals participating in your mantel-mantle party. Have a good day! Lisa

Um…testy (comment above). I always thought a mantle was a coat. Oh well…I still love you! 😉

I'm sorry, I am removing you from my reader. Although it does not matter to me which way you spell mantle/mantel – I don't need a little nugget of bitterness delivered straight to my laptop via my reader. all the best though you might reconsider giving your commenters a smack down over something that really is meaningless.
