This post brought to you by dio. All opinions are 100% mine.
Have you heard of dio yet? I hadn’t either until recently, and I’m exicited to be able to share with you today what it is and how you can use dio in your life! So what is it exactly? Dio is a new creative and social experience where anyone can find, share, and create interactive places and locations to explore. With dio, you can create places and public spaces that are personal to you filled with pictures, video, text and even interactive objects. Your dio places are arranged spatially so users can travel and explore streets, buildings, houses and cities — just like they can in the real world! Pretty cool eh?
Let me show you how it works. Log on to dio and sign up for an account. You can use your facebook credentials to make signing in a breeze. Next, create your space. Dio walks you through step-by-step how to add rooms, places, and objects to your space. I chose to start a Home Stories A to Z home tour. I thought it would be a fun way to share pictures of my home and link them to more details on my blog. You can see the online version of my dio home tour here.
I started my tour on my front porch. You can include full photo albums of each “room” you create and you can lead your audience from room to room in your home by creating an “exit” room. Here you can see that the next “exit” is to my entryway. This is a great way to control the tour you are taking your audience on!
In my entryway, I include a link to the tutorial on how I stenciled the wall and a tutorial on how I created my X-leg ottomon stool. You can even include YouTube vidoes to further enhance your place. Here I included a video on how to hang hooks on board and batten.
The tour takes you sequentially through my first floor with exit rooms to keep things flowing.
I only created my first floor tour so far, but will be adding the other two levels of my home soon! Be sure to follow me on dio under username Home Stories A to Z, so I can follow back and see the spaces you create. I am following a few of you already over there using the facebook connect tool and have added your home tours to the sidebar. You can share the love on dio by sharing some of your friends’ favorite spaces.
To encourage you to check them out and play around with this fun tool, the folks at dio are giving away $100 Amazon gift card to one lucky winner!
Here is how to enter:
