I’m writing this Christmas post in October for good reason! My goal is to provide decorating inspiration for you ahead of time so that you can use that inspiration if desired. If you are hoping to add some new items to your Christmas decor collection, you will want to shop early. Popular items tend to sell out quickly every year, and I know this year is no exception! I purchased almost all of my Christmas decor at Walmart and have linked the exact products for you. I’ve also linked a few similar items where I’m already seeing some “sold out” notifications!
I shop Walmart Home’s online section each season to find stylish accessories and affordable home decor. Items are shipped to my front door in a timely fashion, with many items offering 2-day shipping! I love Walmart’s Holiday Time collection and most, if not all, of my items are from this line! Click on the Holiday Time link here to shop the entire line. If you’re in a hurry to shop, you can also scroll to the end of this post and click on the thumbnails of the items you’re interested in purchasing.
Christmas Fireplace Mantel: Styling Christmas Village Houses
Hands down, my new favorite Christmas decor additions this year are these adorable Christmas Village Houses! I have the Red Paper Plaid House, the White Church, the Blue House, and the Red Christmas Barn. I styled them on a layer of Polyfil Batting that I cut to size and fluffed a bit.

The Christmas Village Houses are battery operated and light up at night with the timer option. You can also just turn them on and off as you desire, but the timer option is much more convenient! I added some additional bottle brush trees around the houses to fill out the forest.
On top of my 30″ round black mirror, I added a swag using some fresh cedar from the yard wrapped with some floral wire. The Wooden Christmas Star was a Walmart.com find a few years ago but can still be purchased online using my link. I flanked the scene with these black metal candlestick holders.
Affordable DIY Mixed Greens Christmas Garland
I will do a seperate blog post on how to create your own mixed greens Christmas garland for much less than a premade garland. I do it every year and reuse different garlands to create different looks. My favorite Christmas garland to add is the Holiday Time Mixed Greenery Garland. It’s a generous 9 foot garland with pinecones and mixed greens that looks great on its own, but even more fabulous when paired with cedar garlands.
The tartan plaid stockings were purchased in-store at Walmart, but I couldn’t find an online link for them. I JUST bought them so I’ll update if I find the link for you. I hung them using 3M command strips light hooks. You can just catch the tiniest glimpse of the Pom Pom Cable Knit Toss Pillow on the chair, but I have to point these out! They are only $12.98 and are just perfect.
The mini fir tree with burlap base can be purchased here. I used a this cute present ornament as well as some Christmas plaid ribbon to create my tree gift decor.

Christmas Trees
This Christmas I really want to create a festive yet simplified cozy look. While I might change my mind as the season continues, for now, I chose to go with nearly naked trees and am loving the clean look. I have a green 7.5 ft fir tree with fairy lights in this room, and a flocked 7.5 ft tree with warm lights in my living room. On top of the flocked tree is this gold star tree topper with LED lights. It’s so pretty and sparkly at night!
To decorate the green fir tree I used five strands of wood bead garlands. Walmart has so many fantastic wood bead garland options in a range of colors and styles! You can check them all out here.
The Christmas Tree Collar Base Cover is so cute and easy to use. The box comes apart and folds flat for easy storage.

Simple Christmas Table Centerpiece
I admittedly sometimes overdue it on table decor which makes the practicality of eating and talking across the centerpiece challenging. Since we use this table every night now for dinner, I decided a more subdued and practical centerpiece was necessary. I used a cable knit runner I had on hand and topped it with Cedar Garlands, Tartan Plaid Ribbon, Red Ornaments, and Mainstays Pillar Candles.
This is a great everyday centerpiece idea to steal! Simply place your runner down the center of the table followed by your greenery. Loosely unwind a spool of ribbon in a zigzag fashion down the center of your table, then tuck in pillar candles, and sprinkle in your ornaments.
Christmas Sideboard Decor & Styling
He sees you while you’re sleeping…👀So the jury is still out in my family on whether or not this is clever or creepy, but for now I’m going with clever! I used this Wood & Metal Santa Sign behind the Holiday Time Mixed Green Wreath to create a peekaboo effect.
The Black and White Nutcracker, Maple Praline Metal Tin Candle, and Present Ornament are also from Walmart.
