Create a gorgeous outdoor tablescape and dining experience for your guests this summer with these outdoor table setting tips and helpful products.
One of my favorite things about summer is taking advantage of the beautiful weather by dining outdoors! Today I will share a few of my outdoor decorating tips and introduce you to some new products that make dining outdoors more enjoyable! Click on the gray/blue affiliate links to shop the products.
Tip 1: Pick your blooms and your color scheme.
All tables look gorgeous with some fresh blooms! When I’m planning a tablescape I don’t always have a color scheme in mind. I usually head to the grocery store to see what they have available and allow the selection to determine my direction. For this table, I knew I wanted jewel tones for a late-summer vibe.
I find that single flower bunches are much less expensive than pre-arranged bouquets; however, when you’re looking at all of the grocery flowers on display they won’t be grouped perfectly according to color. It will be your job to choose wisely! To decide which blooms to use, simply grab a bunch you like, for instance, the pink roses. Hold the roses up to other bunches and determine if you like the way they look together.
Tip 2: Use Easy Arranger to easily arrange your flowers!
I found these Easy Arranger floral wire grids, and they are game changers! They are so much easier to use than creating a scotch tape grid! To use, you simply bend the edges of the grid over the lip of your vase and begin arranging your flowers. The Easy Arranger holds your flowers in place while you arrange. One packet comes with three grid sizes to fit a variety of vases. When you need to change the water, simply lift the grid and your flowers stay perfectly arranged and come out of the vase like a gorgeous “flower lid”. I love these!
To arrange your flowers, start with the greenery first around the outside perimeter of the vase. Next, begin adding your statement blooms and your main flowers. I like to stagger my colors so that they are evenly distributed around the arrangement. Then begin filling in the gaps with your filler flowers and greenery. Keep turning your vase so that you’re able to see the arrangement on all sides and can spot any gaps that might need filling. Just keep playing with the flowers until you’re happy with your arrangements!
Tip 3: Create ambiance with outdoor lanterns and lighting.
There’s something magical about outdoor twinkle lights, lanterns, and candles! Mood lighting instantly elevates your dining experience into something special. When I found these incredibly cool Solar-Powered LED Light Lanterns, I knew they’d be perfect for summer entertaining! The solar batteries are hidden underneath the lid. To operate, place the jars in direct sunlight to charge the batteries, then flip the magnetic switch to turn on.
The jars even open and are fillable. I filled mine with some clippings from the yard and love the way they look! To hang the lanterns, I just tied jute string to the lanterns and secured them to a branch. Shop for the lanterns here.
Tip 4: Keep the bugs at bay!
No matter how beautiful your outdoor tablescape, if your guests are getting eaten alive by mosquitos the party will be ruined! Stop uninvited “guests” from crashing the party by having a plan of attack.
I was thrilled to find something other than citronella candles or bug spray to use when outside. This Halo Mosquito Repeller provides a 15 x 15 foot bug-free zone! Most importantly, the repellent is all-natural, DEET-free and is made from chrysanthemum plants which are known to keep certain kinds of bugs away.
Below is a closeup of the Halo Mosquito Repeller in use. A butane cartridge in the bottom of the Thermacell heats up the repellant pad and distributes the protection. The repellant is odorless, silent, and works great at keeping the bugs away. This product is another game changer to outdoor entertaining!
