Rearranging for Spring!

I’m back from Cancun…sadly, I admit. Why can’t life just be an all-inclusive vacation?  Sigh. So even though no one has clued in the thermometer outside that it is Spring, I’m trying to create spring indoors for myself and get a jump on my spring cleaning.  Who knew I had such a dirty, nasty house hidden behind all that furniture?  The day after we returned from vacation, Matt and I put the kids to bed and rearranged our entire downstairs.  Nothing gives you a new passion for your things like repurposing them.  I love the new arrangement and wish we would have done it ages ago. (Of course, hubby was quick to point out that we didn’t exactly just rearrange.  A new rug from the Pottery Barn Outlet and new table and chairs on clearance from JC Penney’s has been added.  Or subtracted if you’re talking about our pocketbook.)  

The dining room table is now placed at the front of the house and below is the rug we got for 60% off at the PB outlet.  If you have one near you, you are lucky.  They are grand places for bargains.  I have had my eye on this rug for over a year now and was thrilled to find it waiting for me.  I actually wanted the red one, but it wasn’t available and I’m happy with the more subdued green.

Here is the new table for our family.  No more sitting at the bar for every meal.  I adore our formal dining room table and wasn’t willing to give it up, but it’s just not a practical everyday table.  This works so much nicer for everyone.
The sign hanging in the window is something I made.  It’s a bit crafty for me, but I was in the mood for Spring.  It says “happy spring” and makes me happy to look at!
I was going to try and make a cute little wreath like this for inside and out, but when I priced the materials, time, etc. I said, “the heck with it…it’s cheaper to just by them.”  The guy below was bought on sale at Lillian Vernon.  
These are real eggs that someone (other than me–hopefully not some child in a 3rd world country) took the time to blow out, clean, and decorate.  I remember doing something similar with my mom when I was a kid and I about passed out from all that blowing.  They were 6 for $1 and I thought they’d spruce up my banister…and save my own lungs the trouble.  The boys had a blast helping me glue-gun them up there :).

Here’s our Easter wreath on the front door.  Found this beauty at TJ Max.  I love that store, and I love this wreath.  Matt EVEN loves this wreath.  I think it must be the subdued colors and the feathers.

These are the cutest.  I typically find things like this and buy them as a gift for my mom.  Not this year.  These are gifted to me :).  Sorry Mom…you’ll get some Kahlua from Cancun if I can resist drinking it and something else I’ve made for you.  These cute eggs are salt & pepper shakers from Target.
The ceramic eggs below cost me $2.50 for a dozen.  I wasn’t sure what I’d do with them but I knew I’d find a purpose.  Aren’t they cute on the chandelier?  Asher & Zeph love trying to bat at them.  We’ll see how long they last…
 
 And we’ll end with some half-dead narcissus that Matt bought me in celebration of Spring.  They were so pretty about a week ago but are now a bit past their prime.  The sign says, “Life, remembered yesterdays, cherished tomorrows.”  I’m learning to cherish TODAY and not focus so much on my yesterdays or tomorrows.  I wish you the same…
