- $3 rope from Big Lots hardware section
- $1 twine from Target’s Dollar Spot
- Toilet paper roll
- Waxed paper
- Shells
I had this bag of oil-rubbed bronze washers that didn’t fit on my kitchen cabinet hardware. I tied a knot in my twine and ran it through the washer.
Then I unraveled each piece of twine to make six pieces. I glued a shell on the end of each piece.
Then I secured the washer to the napkin ring with a healthy blob of hot glue.
Here they are on my table. I didn’t change everything to be a “beach theme” and they still look fantastic.
If you don’t have a brooch for the middle of your ring or aren’t liking the tassel look, you can always just use shells to bling it up.
If you make these, link back to me and let me know so I can oooooo and aaaaahhhh at your creations! If you want me to make YOU some, let me know. My supplies are somewhat limited so first come first serve. I will charge $2.75 per ring plus the true cost of shipping to your area!

WOW! This is such a great idea, I can't wait to try them out for my first place! I really like the fact that you can make these for any kind of table setting by changing what you put on them.
Gorgeous!!! 🙂

don't you just love those little itty bitty sea creature homes?
i saved shells for years & years & when we moved 2 1/2 yrs. ago, i threw them all away! guess i better get to a beach & start collecting all over again.
great job, beth!

I am a seashell/sea glass collector too and made a very similar set of napkin rings for my Thanksgiving table last fall:

Oooo, I think your holders are cuter than the ones from amazon. What a great way to use up your old hardware 🙂
I'm happy for you that you and your mom got to have beautiful walks on the beach. That sounds so peaceful.
