I was recently asked to be a part of the Waverly Inspirations Network and am thrilled to bring you the results of my first Waverly Inspirations design challenge! Every month Waverly will send me a box of their products, and I will be tasked with designing something fun with what they send me. For this first challenge, I was asked to channel the best of summer using these gorgeous Waverly fabrics and ribbon. The best part is that all of these fun fabrics can be found at Walmart! Grab a cold beverage of your choice–or allow me to make you one from the bar cart–because we are taking this party to the front porch!
If you’ve been to my blog before, then you know that we live in an urban row home smack in the middle of our city. A fun fact about city dwelling is that everyone hangs out on the front porch in the summertime. It’s a great way to catch up with neighbors, entertain guests, and people watch! Our front porch was looking pretty sad, so I was excited to bring some summery color to this space. Do I have you at hello? 😉
A neighbor was coming home from work as I was taking these pictures and stopped in his tracks when he saw the porch. He said, “Oh wow! I love what you’ve done with the porch. It looks so summery! I need someone to come over and do this to my porch.” When a businessman stops and takes notice of your porch decor, then you know you must have done something right!
Of course it was 95• at the time, so maybe he just wanted to be invited up for a drink! 😉 But I have to agree with him! It does look like a pretty inviting place to take a load off after work.
I bought a few new accessories to compliment my summer porch. The bamboo rug, flowers, and plants are all from Walmart. I love how the addition of the rug grounds the entire space!
I used the Waverly Inspirations fabrics to create pillow covers, cocktail napkins, seat covers, and an adorable beach umbrella wreath! Next week I will show you step-by-step how I created the easy pillow covers and beach umbrella wreath, but today it’s all about the eye candy!
Would you also like a tutorial on how to make your own fabric napkins? We can do that too! They are easier to make than you might think and add so much style to your table or outdoor food service area. I like to think of them as mini-throw blankets for styling. 😀 Of course they also come in handy as–you know–napkins!
Out of all the ways I used the Waverly Inspirations fabrics on my porch, the beach umbrella wreath is my favorite! I can’t wait to show you how to make your own using a pool noodle, party hats, dowel rod, and a styrofoam ball.
So there you have it! My first Waverly Inspirations challenge complete, and I’m thrilled with the end result! I hope you enjoyed touring my summer front porch, and I hope you’ll join me for more Waverly Inspirations challenges in the months to come. I look forward to creating more projects with these affordable fabrics easily accessed at your local Walmart store. Hurrah for beautiful, obtainable, and affordable design for all!

It cools me off just looking at the pictures!! Waverly fabrics reminds me of many many moons ago when I was a buyer for a decorative fabrics outfit and Waverly office in NYC was one of the places we went to view their latest fabrics!
Thanks Wendy! I have always loved Waverly fabrics.
Oh, this looks so summer-y and inviting! It’s like you’ve set the scene for a mini-vacation every time you step outside. You’ve managed to take a small space and put just the right furniture and accessories together to maximize it’s potential. Then there’s the lovely styling of the drink cart – want to pour myself a beverage in those beautiful blue glasses! Love your comparison of cloth napkins to mini-throw-blankets – so true! No wonder your neighbour was impressed.
Thank you so much Lori for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and sweet comment. 🙂
Super cute! The wreath is my favorite!
Thanks so much Debbie! It’s my favorite too. 🙂
