Storage organization for every situation! Come see how I used Gladiator products to transform a dirty, spider-infested shed into a working space, perfectly customized to my decorating, flower arranging, and furniture painting needs!
When we bought our home two years ago, I was so excited about the design potential of our cute barn/shed. I originally hoped we could turn it into a guest house, but the expense and logistics didn’t really suit our immediate needs. What we really needed in this home was more organized storage space! My job as a home blogger is admittedly an odd one—and it comes with a lot of stuff. In our last home, I used our 1000 square foot basement for my storage needs as well as my home office. In this home, we don’t have a basement and I don’t have an office! I needed a better solution for my clutter. It was time to seize the space we had and make better use of it.
She Shed Creation Step 1: Declutter, clean, paint and prep your space!
This before picture looks downright glorious compared to the real before! In my haste to get started on this project, I forgot to take a true before picture for you. I had so much clutter and nonsense in this space that you couldn’t easily walk through the shed without tripping over something. There were spider webs and dead bugs everywhere and it felt creepy! The walls, doors, and floors were dirty and neglected.
First, I moved everything out of the shed, donated a bunch of items I no longer needed, and then I cleaned absolutely every surface. Next, I gave the walls, ceiling, doors, and stairs a fresh coat of paint and scrubbed the floors. When I finished, the shed looked like a new room ready for a design plan!
She Shed Creation Step 2: Create a design plan using Gladiator Design Studio.
If you hop over to the Gladiator website, you will see a tab at the top that says “inspiration & planning”. Here is where you will find a secret gem, the Gladiator Design Studio! This free online app allows you to build your own space with a detailed floor plan, customized to the exact measurements of your room. I was able to visualize my space by trying out different pieces of Gladiator product in my space before ordering. This was so helpful in conceptualizing how I wanted the space to flow and which pieces would work best.
She Shed Creation Step 3: Unbox, assemble, and install your Gladiator products!
All of the Gladiator products I ordered came boxed and ready to assemble. With a little help from Asher, my 15 year old, I was able to assemble everything and set it in place. Even in 95º weather with 70% humidity, we still managed to set everything up in a flash! Watch the video below to see us put together the EZ Connect Rack Shelving which requires no tools, thanks to the click-and-lock system!
She Shed Creation Step 4: Move everything into place and get organized!
Allow me to show you this space one glorious workstation at a time! It’s a dream come true to have prop storage, toss pillow storage (don’t judge!), paint storage, patio supply storage, a flower arranging station, and a mobile workstation all at my disposal.
Seasonal Toss Pillow Storage
It is said that toss pillows are the stuffed animals of grown women. Whether I agree with this statement or not, I have to admit that I have a ridiculous amount of toss pillows and toss pillow covers. In my defense, I use them and I switch them up frequently for photoshoots! My collection was getting a bit uncomely and needed sorting.
Tada!!! The Ready to Assemble Jumbo GearBox is the perfect unit for organizing my seasonal toss pillows. All fall and Christmas toss pillows now have a home and are off the closet floor! I know most people don’t need a toss pillow storage cabinet, but that’s the beauty of Gladiator products! They are versatile enough to fit your exact organizational needs.
Flower Arranging Station
I often mix faux florals with real florals and am constantly creating floral arrangements for photoshoots. Typically when I need to make an arrangement, I run around the garage and attic frantically trying to locate all of my supplies. Now all of my flower arranging tools are neatly organized on two mobile carts that I can push around the room!
The 2-Drawer Utility Cart is perfect for keeping my floral frogs, shears, wire, foam, tape and water picks ready for use! I keep my most frequently used tools in the upper locking tray and my less frequently used tools, like adhesives and wood picks, in the bottom tray. The inner compartment stores some pot fillers and small flower pots.
All of the Gladiator drawers are lined with a cushioned grip material, keeping my tools in place and in good condition. The durable casters attached to the base of the cart make it easy to move around the room allowing me to bring my tools right over to my project when needed.
Paint Supply Storage
Between house paint, furniture paint, spray paint, and acrylic paint, I own a lot of paint! The Ready-to-Assemble Mobile Storage Cabinets works beautifully for storing all of my paint. The shelves each hold up to 45 pounds, and the casters allow me to easily move the cabinets when needed.
It’s hard to choose a favorite, but I think out of all my Gladiator products the 3′ Wide Mobile Workstation is a strong contender for number 1! The versatility, durability, and beauty of the piece, with it’s clean modern lines and wood top, speak to my design-loving heart. This is a great piece for my crafting and styling needs.
Blogging & Photo Editing Workstation
I wanted this room to have a clean table ready for work. In the future, I may move one of my miter saws out here on the 4′ Adjustable Height Hardwood Workbench, but for now I like the idea of using this table for computer work and projects. I frequently do photoshoots outdoors and enjoy a quiet space to check my pictures on my computer before proceeding with the shoot.
This is a great spot for crafting, blogging, gift wrapping, building, or writing! When I look out the window I can see my favorite horse Blaze which is an added bonus.
Home Decor and Outdoor Supply Storage
The EZ Connect Racks are great for organizing all types of gear and home decor. I used three racks to organize my large home decor items and outdoor patio supplies.
Frequently used items for our deck and patio are conveniently at hand now!
Thanks so much for taking the tour of my newly organized She Shed! I hope you feel inspired and ready to organize your own space!
