I don’t know what the weather is like where you live, but right now I am relishing, rejoicing, rollicking in our unseasonably cool temperatures! I couldn’t think of a better way to bring in September than with temps in the 70’s. Let’s all breathe a collective sigh of relief that the unbearable heat and humidity of August is gone and we have this to look forward to….
I know. It’s a bit of a let down after all that eye-candy isn’t it? Sorry to disappoint you. However, something about this birdcage whispered autumn to me. Couldn’t you just picture it on my front porch filled with little pumpkin gourds? Or perhaps something more spooky like some white sticks with a big fat raven on top? Like I said; it spoke to me. And when a thrift store item speaks, I listen. I bought my $3 birdcage and set off to rid her of the gilded sparkly look. It wasn’t working for me.
A coat of black spray paint later and she’s…uh…oops. Not done! Has this ever happened to you? You are all excited that your project is finished only to find out you did a half-bum-cheek (keeping it clean here people) job in your spray painting! This happens to me way more than I care to admit. Please tell me I’m not alone.Okay, and NOW she’s finished and looking cute in spite of the bad flash photography. I love it and I can’t wait to play around with some decorations inside.
You truly make me want to grab a can of spray paint and just go crazy!!!!
Very pretty! Love your idea of filling with gourds, I'll have to use that for my birdcage too.
instead of thinking it wasn't finished, i thought you'd used gold rub n buff on it.
what a great birdcage!
fall? hmmmmh? i love the colors of fall but fall makes me a little anxious. it's the knowing what comes after it that doesn't make it favorite season. my physical body loves summer & has a problem with winter.
i so love your blog. gotta stop by every day.
What a great job on the birdcage..I've picked up a few on my thrift store visits and I never know what to do with them…well now I do! Thanks for sharing.
And wow…what eye candy the decor and sweets were…I think I need me some of those little cakes! I love the cooler fall weather..it's only been in the 70's here too during the day, and all the way down to the 40's at night.
Hugz,
Michele
Beth- Once again you amaze me. I wish I could talk my hubby into a decorative bird cage… but he is much to practical for that! : ) I love the idea of having it on your porch and spooking others!
Thanks for the inspiration, as always! : )
Just found your website- so cute and so many inspiring projects! I have had the gilded pumpkins project saved for forever along with those pumpkin treat things. Can't wait to see what you do!
Gorgeous cage and yes, my spray painting skills are basic at best. I *often* find gaping holes. Which then get blobby because I spend too much time on them. Meh.
Oh my, you scored an AWESOME find there, Beth…and what a transformation…good job, girl! I LOVE everything about fall…I'd have to say it's one of favorite seasons 🙂
Have a lovely day!
~Michelle 🙂
Hi there! Im not sure how my blog linked someone to you but Im so glad it did. Let me know if it happens again. I am glad I could help {smile}. I love your birdcage! I bought one that looks close to yours and I love it. It's still in it's natural wood stained state. Not sure what I will do with it just yet. Your's looks great painted black~ Have a great one~
I was so not disappointed by that picture. Giddy is a better word. However, what happened? How did you miss all those parts? I laughed out loud. I LOVE the birdcage, and I'm envious. Great fall pics, by the way.
So cute! I personally am a SUMMER TIME GIRL! I love reading your blog tho, you're so darn cute!
I'm SO envious of the birdcage right about now! I'm SO BAD at seeing potential in things, but even I would have grabbed that baby up! You did a GREAT job bringing her back to life.
Well when the birdcage spoke it knew who it was speaking to! Great job on the remake of it. Love it…Pam
